What does BPRGAPS stand for or has any one heard it before.

Never heard of it before. It looks like a mnemonic for vital signs.

Blood pressure
Pulse
Respirations
Glasgow Coma Score
Auscultate (lung sounds)
Pupils
Skin signs

PRBELLS is another version of this acronym that I have heard of.

Pulse
Respirations
Blood pressure
Eyes
Level of consciousness
Lung sounds
Skin signs

Neither mnemonic are useful in my opinion.

I was going to say it LOOKS like a vitals sign mnemonic (geeze, I almost need a mnemonic just to remember how to spell "mnemonic" lol) like it's more or less the right grouping of letters but who knows.....OP do you have any context whatsoever?

Personally I learned vitals as BELLSRP, pretty much the biggest use IMO is for the EMT student to remember during tests, otherwise you'll quickly learn in the field as we tend to do most all on most all patients (exceptions apply) (and if you forget just look at what the PCR is asking for haha)

Wow! I learned vitals as well...vitals.

I seriously do not comprehend a mnemonic for this part of the "education".

Same here. I have never even heard of a mnemonic for vitals before.

I can see this being useful for someone who gets an emergency medical responder or wilderness first responder certification, and only makes contact with a patient once every 3-4 years, but, outside of that, if you plan on working with patients, this is BS. You should know what you need to find out about in order to treat someone.

Additionally, very inportant things to check that are not included in the acronym are: Blood Sugar and SPO2

Almost everyone gets those nowadays. Fell off a ladder and broke your arm? I'll take a blood sugar if there's time. Maybe this is their first blood sugar related incident, and that's what caused them to get dizzy and fall off the ladder. Had a seizure? Maybe you're blood sugar is low now from all of your muscles firing. I'd say about 40-60% of my patients get a blood sugar taken.

Point is: know what data you need to get.

I used PROPELSBG early in my internship as a checklist while writing down my info; if a box was empty, it reminded me to check.
Pressure
Resps
O2 Sat
Pulse
Eyes
Lungs
Skin
BGL
GCS

I no longer use it but it helped me get through calls when my mind was scattered.

Wow...speechless. Truly am and this is not sarcasm.

Speechless? Because people find simple solutions to problems until they develop a better treatment plan? I found that I had formed some poor habits as an EMT and was cutting corners on my assessments early on. That was a simple tool I used to correct it until my assessment had a better flow.

Some people are fine at the assessment but struggle having normal conversations with pts.

Some people are just *******s and never remedy that.

Speechless because it is a reflection of how poorly we are educating our students. That simple.

We focus on the wrong skills and do not develop the critical ones.
