Aspirin Therapy for Chest Pain

In addition to patient assited NTG, we are allowed to administer 162mg of Aspirin to somebody having chest pains. I was wondering how many of you are allowed to do this, and what your contraindications are for it. Our contras are 1) Allergic to aspirin, 2) Taking Coumadin.
 
Being BLS, we arent allowed to give any aspirin. The big cheeses are looking into adding it to our protocol for chest pain, but that is probably far from happening.
 
We can give it. We have to call in for an order though. Our only contraindication is allergy, Coumadin is only listed as a "special consideration".
 
ALS units can administer 4 x 81 MG (324 MG) per protocols.

All emt's in our area .. per protocol.. give baby asa 81mg x2 for any one with a CC of CP

Only allowed for ALS here. We can assist with sublingual nitro if the PT has it on them. We can assist with one dose (either initial or a second dose). Contraindications are systolic <100 and taking Viagra (or any of the other variations of it).
 
Our units are BLS/ALS, but as BLS (if we didn't have a medic with us) we are allowed to give asa, as long as they are not allergic to it or taking coumadin. Were also allowed to give glucose, and activated charcoal. Anything else would have to be an assist with the pt's own rx with approval from med control.
 
ALS - 324mg standing orders - allergy is contraindication. No contra for coumadin unless massive internal bleeding is suspected, but then you wouldn't be runing the CP protocol anyway most likely.

BLS - no protocol yet, although people get around it by saying "I can't tell you to do this, but you might want to take some aspirin before we get you in the ambulance".
 
4 X 81mg = Basic administeration along with NTG assist
IV Techs= administer NTG with an IV established

Contraindications are: have already taken their own asa, blood thining meds, stomach ulcers or bleeding conditons.
 
In NYC BLS is allowed to give 162mg ASA PO as long as no allergy, taking blood thinners, recent GI Bleed or any bleeding disorders and at least 36 years of age. In vollie land same as recuecpt 324mg PO without contrainidcations... :D
 
Here in pennsyltucky, ALS can give 243mg or 324mg - depends whose protocols you use.

BLS can assist pt. take their own nitro SL.

2-4 baby asa w/o orders at the basic level. obviously, asa allergy might be a contra.
 
We give it here, but EMT's cannot, its an ALS thing. We give 2 baby aspirin and the only contra is an allergy.
