Is it just me or is youtube getting flooded w/ ads for angel med flight? I find it tremendously annoying skipping their ads before watching videos. And do they have no better place to advertise to than youtube users? Because youtube users are going to need flight transport right?

Google Analytics give you ads based on how you use all Google products....it probably costs them very little because so few people (people who watch too many air ambulance videos) end up seeing their ads.

I see it when i do google searches... But that's just the analytics doing it's job.

YouTube is owned by Google so you are being served those ads based on the content of your internet use :)

Maybe I visit this site alot that's why haha. Anyway, I just downloaded a google chrome youtube ad blocker. Take that ads!

Yeah, I noticed that. I think I went on their website once to try to see the interior of a bell 412 for HEMS.

Off topic, the Bell 412 seems to be the largest cabin available in for HEMS. I would be interested to know why it's not in widespread use as an increase in space seems to be a needed premium in HEMS.

My first guess would probably be cost and fuel.

I'm betting you're right. It's a large twin engine helicopter. Not that suited for EMS operations due to high cost to run. Plus it might actually have TOO much space inside.

Very expensive to operate and apparently not an ideal aircraft for altitude. Sikorsky S76s are also used for aeromedical and are possibly even larger.

Bells are expensive in general and are not the most reliable. The 412 is probably one of the worst from a cost:reliability standpoint.

The trend in HEMS for some time now has been toward smaller, cheaper aircraft.

Pretty soon we'll be running box trucks with lights and sirens, fully equipped with an MRI and EMD onboard and Chinooks for HEMS.

Not if you're Maryland State Police.

AW139 behemoths for everyone!

Yeah, MSP is special. Maryland has the honor of having the second highest public debt per capita, yet can still somehow justify operating 12 intermediate twins in a state 100 miles wide. A helicopter that costs 3-4 times more than a good light twin and burns 2-3 times as much fuel.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't envious of the machinery, but dear gawd what a waste. Makes me think of the suburbanites who buy a Hummer or a Jeep Rubicon and put $15k worth of lift, tires, bumpers, and other premium off road hardware on it when all it's used for is driving to the mall. Of course at least when those people do that, it's their money they are spending.
