I have an interview for AMR Riverside this month and was wondering what their interview style is like. Is it like the Rancho division where it's a group interview consisting of 4 customer service based questions and 1 medical scenario? Thanks!
 
I have a interview with AMR tomorrow at the Irwindale location to work out of their LA station, and they straight up told me they will give me a written (120 question) and skills test before the interview. So I assume your interview will go the same way they probably wanna test your knowledge and skills before you go into interview. Personally I feel that it's a little messed up to test you again after passing the class and getting your NREMT, but what can you do that's just the way they roll lol.

Each AMR division handles interviews differently. Some have skills test while others don't.

Why is it messed up to require people to test? There are a decent number of people that get hired who finished EMT class years ago. It's actually pretty standard to have a test

I only say its messed up because I just got my EMT cert and phlebotomy cert, and I'm just tired of being tested lol, but that is my laziness talking hehe.

Get used to testing in this field.
 
Interesting to see the LA station doing that. I know Rancho doesn't do skills testing. Hopefully somebody can illuminate what it's like over at Riverside
 
I know 4 years ago they just did a normal interview and then if they liked you, you were invited back to do a group interview which meant you were offered the job.

However that information is 4 years old so the system can be completely different.
 
We still have the same hiring process.. You will have a 1on1 interview then a group interview. The group interview is pretty much just to ask if u are still interested in working here. There is no scenario questions during your 1on1.

Sorry if i'm thread-jacking, but i figured instead of starting a new thread i can post a question relevant. I was curious if anyone here is on the Tactical EMS team with riverside? if so, how's it operate? how do you like it? how often do they test applicants or how often do open positions come around? any other qualifications besides working in the division?
 
If I remember correctly you have to be in good standing with their division for ~2 years. The unit is a dual medic unit.

The members are required to attend the International School of Tactical Medicine (module A and B which is around $4k if I remember correctly).

When the team first started they would only respond with SWAT in the city of Riverside, don't know if that is still the case.

is the cost of tact med school out of pocket or sponsored by amr? also is the 2 years specified as needing to be full time or part time? thanks again.
