Just asking about participants' habits on the job........

...and the point of all this is???

General discussion.

I can't imagine how many on the forum carry a firearm that aren't a law enforcement officer...

Is that a trick question on purpose?

I am a die hard southern pro gun kinda girl and still think a firearm in the back of an ambulance is a really bad idea. I think everyone should be required to have some sort of close quarters self defense knowledge just in case but don't think a firearm is necessary.

Ink. I think as long as its not blatantly offensive and able to be covered its no one business if you have it or not.

The first and third questions are the same. Was one supposed to be have tattoos and carry?

I can. i'm sure there's a LOT of folks on here that carry firearms on a semi-regular basis. The number that carry at work is going to be small, though.

I carry a shotgun over my shoulder. it's a lot more intimidating than your wussy handguns.

and religious reasons prevent me from getting a tattoo.

Amen.

Off duty is an ENTIRELY different matter.

My mistake I thought the original question implied while working on an ambulance.

I'm in NY, better yet NYC/LI so carrying a gun is basically not even possible to dream about.

Yes to tattoos. No to carrying a sidearm on duty. Off duty, though, is a different matter. I almost always have a handgun with me off duty

I envy you people.

I'd give my left nut for a S & W 1911 .45 in silver with black grips.

I was going to apply for the permit but its $300, 6 month wait and a ridiculous process on top of a gun thats already $1000. And, I have to renew the damn thing every few years or I lose my gun.

NY sucks.

Concealed tattoo and do not carry ON DUTY. Otherwise, a mix of CC/OC, depending on the dress code and activities for the day.

And I am all for having a weapon locked up in the narc box, such as a taser.

Why on earth would I want to carry a gun?

To protect myself?

From who? I don't live in the wild west. I live in a modern civilised western country. Honestly, the worst people I get accosted by are evangelists and people flogging cheap Chinese food.

Shooting for sport? Thats a different issue. I love putting a few rounds down range. But to protect myself? Absurd.

when i am off-duty and i respond to my volley squad, i leave my sidearm in my locked glovebox

obviously when i am working it comes with me everywhere, unless i am in the back, then i give it to a partner who meets me at the hospital with it

Yes, NYC, it is about on the job.

And they smell like eucalyptus cough drops, their droppings too.
