Frio ops will be 24hr shifts, call volume around 3-4 per truck. There are 3 ALS trucks on, and looking to add a CCT truck for nursing home to ER calls. Not sure about the call volume for the bases.
Work for them in Austin. Both Austin and San Antonio are in the "south Texas ops". Ran by the same ops director, who does not care for anyone but himself. He will lie to your face with a big fat smile. :D
Other than the idiot running the show, San Antonio is mostly IFT. They do run 911 for...
Ok so heres the deal...
While on shift last week I started having some chest pain. Im 22, in average-good shape, no past med HX, no meds. Felt like pressure in side my chest, pushing outward. Imaging squeezing a balloon in your hand and trying to blow it up at the same time. Lasted for around...
For those in Texas or anyone who can answer the question-
If you've ever looked in the back of Texas EMS magazine you'll see the disciplinary action section. I saw under one guys name it said -reprimanded for violating EMS Rules §157.36(b)(2), 157.36(b)(14), 157.36(b)(18), and 157.36(b)(28)...
Im a basic, they only hire paramedics to work the streets. Basics work dispatch, even though I did hear that they might start running emt/paramedic trucks instead of medic/medic, but thats not official.
The only thing I can think of is call up TxDH and tell them whats going on. Maybe they'll help you out, see if you can test your skills threw the Navy and send in the paperwork.
I live in Houston, near them. Their double medic trucks, over a large county. I had a buddy does his paramedic clinicals up there and said it was great, he got some good calls and the crews were cool. Thats all I know, hope it helps!
Hey, we got alot in common. Im also in Texas(Houston) been in EMS almost 2 yrs, also 20. Im about to finish up my paramedic, starting clinicals next month.
Welcome to the forum, you'll see some great stuff here.
I understand most of it. My instructor keeps saying that it will click and then be like second nature. I had a friend that just finished up medic school and he says the same thing.
