I was sitting in the grandstands at my local racetrack on the 4th of July. Before the races began one of the medics was sitting down a couple rows in front of me, and I was watching him talk to some people. I've always watched medics/firefighters and of course ambulances, etc. while their doing...
He was actually laughing at the guys' voice...which is no surprise. lol. That is a squeaky-voice.
The other week I was on the phone with DELL trying to fix a problem with my computer, and I must say it took all my effort not to laugh as I was talking to this guy who had one of the most...
I completed a fanfic called "He Could Be The One" about a teen rockstar meeting a girl on a cruise ship...it was 38,226 words.
Premise? What's that? lol.
The genre is probably mainly going to be action...with some romance/comedy.
I would love to get it published, but right now just...
Okay I have another question...
What is the difference between all of these?
Battalion
Ladder
Squad
Truck
Engine
Rescue
Safety Battalion
And what exactly do the numbers mean after each of these?
Thanks!
Emily
Thanks for the great tips, FireTender! :D
And I actually have another question:
Is there a lieutenant status for paramedics? Or is that just for firefighters?
In my story, they're based in New York - so I was think they would be part of the New York Fire Department, and they'd have...
Thanks for all the replies, guys! :D
You all definitely made sense with explaining the difference between probie and rookie. :D
As for my question about injuries, it didn't have to be the most common. Actually in my story I was thinking of something quite more dangerous...but I dont want...
Why? Because all flight medics are like Rabbit?
Give me a break...I seriously like the show. Who cares that it's not accurate/realistic? It's a freaking show for pete's sake!
If there was a show to complain about, I'd have to complain about House MD....all those wacky, fake, made-up...
Okay, so none of you probably know this (probably because I never mentioned it in my intro post...) but I like to write short stories/novels...and well my latest idea has been to write a story about paramedics/firefighters...
The original idea was about a firefighter, but I decided to change...
Gosh that's crazy! That poor kid.
You will never get me to jump off anything that requires clearance of a cement slab...no way.
Gosh, that's just..wow.

UPDATE:
So today was our first day of class.
I was a little nervous but once I got there I was ok. I was first one there so the lieutenant had me put down some more tables and chairs since we have 26 kids in our class! ha. It's huge! There's 6 of us from my school, including me of course...
I've always wondered how meal breaks work...and of course I've seen in movies that as soon as the paramedic/firefighter goes to eat they get a call. And I guess that's true!
I'm kind of worried for that part though; I'm a hypoglycemic so my blood sugar drops quite low if I don't eat every...
I didn't learn this in med school (cuz of course I'm not in it yet..) but my teacher told us today that when men are aroused they can't think properly because not a lot of blood is going to their brain.
She's an art teacher - very knowledgable ;) - and we definitely had an interesting...
I'm looking forward to it starting. And I plan on watching it too. It looks good. I watch all medical shows (like Greys Anatomy, etc.) so this one looks even more interesting, being about paramedics and all. ;)
Does anyone know when it actually airs?
Emily
This thread is helpful :P I'll make sure not to wear my stuff like that all the time. haha.
So why don't you want to be noticed when you're off-duty? That's my question ;)
Emily
Thanks :)
FireWA1, I know that the nursing students have to buy their books...my sister is taking the class. (She's borrowing books from a student who there last year, though.) So I don't know if we'll have books or not....
We had orientation today and I found out:
1. We will be off...
Yeah that's what it is ;)
Thanks for the info. ;) I will try my best to remember all the info! lol.
I'm wondering if we will get books...do you need books for a fire class?
Emily
It includes prelimanary training to become a paid or volly FF (after course completion) as well as the preparation needed to take the state written exam for First Responder certification, we'll learn about safe equipment operation including emergency vehicles, specialty power tools, emergency...
I'm unsure. I think it's just training. It's not really a fire academy...lol.
kecpercussion - Thanks. I will have to work on that. lol. I know that we do running in the class...at least I was told that by someone else who's friend took the class....But I'm sure we will be doing some work out...
