I Completly agree with reaper, in regards to every ambulance/emergency vehicle should have them. I have heard of dashboard cameras saving more than a few policeman from lawsuits and such.
This seems to be an issue where there is not one set answer. For instance, at my volly service visible tattoos are allowed so long as they "are in good taste". However I have heard that several paid services do not allow visible tattoos. As far as piecing at my volly service; in general ears...
there is a whiteboard thing-a-jig in the back of my rig. all of the vitals, history, meds, times, etc goes on it. then after the call and the PCR gets written i just have to wipe the whiteboard clear :P on scene though i also do the tape method....
I routinely ask the pt if I can help them remove their jacket/sweatshirt/hoody. Once I explain that it would make it easier for me to obtain an accurate bp I have never had a pt refuse.
As far as the high speed cutting clothing of a trauma pt, I have only done that twice. Both times the pts...
What do you guys think about gear that meets ANSI/ISEA 107-1999 class 2 standard? I haven’t read anything about clothing items complying with that being grandfathered in, have you?
I am not sure about the legality part, however other than that I completely agree with Sapphyre. Some 4x4, kling, gloves, packet mask, and a cell phone or you could kick it old school and put a CB in your vehicle :D . I don’t remember who said that thing about having to take C-spine, but that...
I usually sleep at my volley station on the weekends… its easer for me to just wake up and go rather then having to drive back to the station when we get a call…. so I guess that counts as the night a shift
oh yea the drug test... can I have a cheat sheet because I forgot to study............jk
Never have at my volly service. I think it is a good idea considering the nature of ems.
Defiantly a sobering topic but it is one we need to be aware of. One question though medic1980, what do you mean by "other vehicle injured/killed"? Everyone else stay safe out there.
I found a few more... I think they are all from the UK.

From what I've seen, the enter design of the patient compartment in ambulances should be rethought. The ambulances I have been in/responded to calls with have all been class III, and the ergonomics in the patient compartment has not been thought out well. The main issues I see are the...
Ulrik: If you its available I would recommend learning/familiarizing yourself with a traditional system (Judo, Aikido) rather than just jumping straight into MMA. This is because I found a lot of MMA instructors seem neglectful in teaching their students how to fall correctly; or about the...
Maybe they use urban outdoorsmen who have turned into popsicles??? And it isn’t like the body disappears there would still be pieces left to put in the ground when the college was finished.
My college doesn’t have its own EMS service/agency either. However I am part of a volly services which operates in the area of my school. My point here is that you might be able to find an agency that is near by that will allow you to work/volunteer with.
Responding to calls on campus can...
