Wow, being a few months into my medic program, hall really seems like a superior place to work. EMS in SoCal is sad, moving more north is for the best.
I plan to do my internship at morongo basin ambulance(I think it's called), medics make like 10 an hour!
Does hall hire for medics very...
Hi! Anyone gone through ncti riverside in SoCal and have suggestions for who to shoot to intern with? (For medic)
Anyone work in the area and have any opinions? I'm shooting for morongo valley ambulance. 72's and some good calls apparently. (But base pay of 9.25 apparently for medics...
Yeah I was thinking Santa Clara county. I used to work in coco with Rm when they first opened.
Talk about a mess. Bunch of new emts with no fto training whatsoever. Cool call diversity though. We took it over from AMR and they were super salty. Buy they got it back I guess!
It's your typical dialysis transport. I'd try to get into care. Prn doesn't do much actual EMT work.
Pay is moderate, hours are there. But basically taxi work.
I was very closed to getting a paid internship with angelous oaks, but then they realized they forgot to see where I live. They require 15 minute response time in personal vehicle to station. Slim chances you are near there but worth the 2 cents.
Obligated to stop as far as I know. What if you pass them up and someone passes? You didn't have a patient. You can at least assess and provide protection via your ambulance to the scene until fire arrives. Plus what EMT on a bls ambulance doesn't want to stop lol.
Get used to dispatch giving...
Do you have a 4 year degree? PA is tough. My girlfriend is trying to get into programs right now. 4.0 gpa and loads of EMT and drug/alcohol rehab experience and much more. And she isn't having good luck. I say anything to set yourself apart if you want to go that route.
But don't get your medic...
No, I literally remember a question similar to that one, minus the kick in the face answer lol.
Basically, they will try to get you to do something before it should be done in your assessment. The questions are critical thinking, not usually just blanket questions.
Just study up, and remember...
I worked in a alcohol/drug detox. It's technically a loophole they are using. The trick is that you don't open or touch the medication or bottle, and just hand it to them. You never actually Adminster the medication, you just observe it being taken.
X2. In fact print off a few extras and put them in your ambulance bag. That way when state comes knocking and you don't have your wallet you have an extra in your pack.
Understand that the question will have 3 right answers. You have to determine the answer that is most right in regards to your assessment.
Example
33 y/o patient shortness of breath and open fracture of the ankle, what's the most proper tx?
Splint ankle
Vitals
Oxygen
Kick him in the face...
I have this dilemma as my career goal is law enforcement, but I love emergency medicine. I know it's not easy to merge the two. I figure I'll go for medic school.
LE runs on the pers system here so 20 year retirement, so I can practice before and after and part time in between.
