Take a Wilderness EMT course, and work with a volunteer ambulance as much as possible. i saw some pretty rough wounds in Iraq, also you will prob get trigger time so make sure you are cool with that aspect. Some ambulance services will let you do ride alongs as a EFR or Driver.

Personally, i think part of being LEO should be CLS/EFR training. i have treated trauma injuries while under fire, it isnt difficult. More Tac Medics in the community, more EFR training for teachers. More firepower to the PD's is not the answer....i know ICE agents in Manhattan that couldnt hit...

Anyone already done missions with them? I registered with them after Sandy, but have yet to sign on to a team. There is training next month in North East PA, I am gonna attend that and learn more about how they operate.

I chose WEMT because i spend a lot of time in the back country and overseas. i am.also hoping to do volunteer work with various NGO's and Natural Disaster relief.

SOLO, WMI, and NOLS are all the same original group of friends from the late 70's and early 80's. they have different schools and different programs, but the content and philosophy is the same.

I just graduated from the SOLO WEMT program Thursday, we did our Wilderness practicals in WFR stage, and practicals for EMT were Urban based.
