Depends on your protocols. It has changed in MA a few times, but currently you can stop at an incident while already transporting a patient as long as: 1. The patient you are transporting is stable 2. An EMT stays with the patient in the back of the rig.

In addition to the HIPAA issues that have already been discussed, you would also need to check the laws in your state relating to audio recording. It may be illegal to record someone without their knowledge, necessitating posting signs and informing people verbally.

I kind of like the Zoll AED plus units. They take 10 CR123 lithium batteries, which can be had for $2 each when ordered online. My fire dept has 3. Never needed to get them serviced so I don't know if they do or not.
