Medic School Slackin on Clinical's..What to do??

I'd either look for someone who's familiar with consumer law in California or who's familiar with California EMS regulations. Honestly, it'd be hard to say how many hours it would take, because you might be looking at the possibility of litigation....

Medic School Slackin on Clinical's..What to do??

And, in said letter, be sure to CC whichever government agency regulates EMS education in your jurisdiction.

    Ready for an unpopular idea?

I take a week away from EMTLife to go to EMS Expo and come back to find this thread. Awesome! I've said more than once that there's nothing wrong with an instructor telling someone that maybe EMS isn't for them. In other words, not everyone gets a trophy.

    Off duty question

I could probably write a blog post about Epi-phobia.

    Off duty question

While I do enjoy educating folks on medical-legal issues, I really try to stay out of these discussions for a couple of reasons. First, laws regarding tort liability (including duty to act and negligence), Good Samaritan statutes, and regulations on EMS practice are INCREDIBLY variable from...

Congrats! And let the learning continue.

    Need some encouragment

Cypress Creek and Harris County Emergency Corps both have active volunteer programs that will get you the 911 experience you need AND give you a "safety net" of being the third crew member and having two other providers to back you up. Either will give you the experience you need -- and quickly.

Going Beyond The Minimum: Paramedic or Ambulance Driver?

And now y'all know why some of my posts have been so negative about the state of EMS. I need to remove most of those EMS Facebook groups from my news feed on Facebook.

    Volunteering as an EMT

It's going to depend greatly on your state's EMS laws and regulations. And I'll leave it at that. This thread, at least in my eyes, is getting awfully close to legal advice.

    Anyone else coming?

    What's next for new paramedic?

My advice -- lots of patient contacts. I, too, am a volunteer with a primary career outside of EMS. I found places to volunteer where I could get lots of patient contacts. Next, AMLS. To me, AMLS is based heavily on pattern recognition. You'll learn more from AMLS when you have run some...

    What is your transition plan?

Assuming your state accepts it, it's an online class. Not perfect, but bearable. The EMS version of online defensive driving. Overall. I'd do it again.

    Itching all over

I'd be curious to see waveform capnography and also do some questioning to find out if she's had any new environmental exposures. I've actually had a patient who had a mild reaction to a change in laundry detergent.

Probably so. I realized that after I posted....

How about a forum for conferences and continuing education events?

    Rsi

Like I said, I was providing my answer on Texas law. That's the state I'm admitted to practice as an attorney in. I don't know the specifics and vagaries of other state's laws. Simple negligence, at least in Texas, wouldn't factor in at all. And ultimately, the question of any sort of...

    Rsi

DEMedic -- couldn't agree more. With appropriate education, both initial and continuing and proper clinical oversight, I believe there's a place for RSI. I've got it in my toolbox and hope never to use it, but I know there is a patient population out there where RSI is going to be the ONLY...

    Rsi

Someone once said that RSI is 2/3 of the lethal injection cocktail. When you look at it that way, maybe not everyone needs to utilize it. What we need to be teaching in addition to airway skills is airway decision making. But alas, critical thinking is in short supply while cookbook...

    Emt schools in Miami FL

EMT and Paramedic school is teaching you medicine. Medicine is based on science. Mathematics is the "language" of science. And since a couple of us seem to be having trouble following your thought process, I'd suggest that a good composition course would do wonders for your written...
