    Blood Pressure: ALS v. BLS

I think it's pretty simple... it's sad that they care more about a 20 mmhg difference in a systolic pressure than this patient or your request. Even if there's not much they can do treatment-wise, they have more assessment abilities... ALS was requested and this ain't for "my shoulder hurts" - a...

Do you have any experience with homebirths? Midwives? Planned unassisted births?

Here's one from 2000-2004 in Canada that shows physician-attended hospital births with a slightly higher (but likely statistically insignificant) infant mortality rate than planned home births AND midwife-attended hospital births. One from 2009 that has a sample size of over 1/2 a million...

Do you have any experience with homebirths? Midwives? Planned unassisted births?

I'm looking over the research, but I'd like to point out that from what I'm seeing this high infant mortality rate idea everyone keeps citing is based on one study with 20-25 year old data from Australia exclusively: Perinatal death associated with planned home birth in Australia: population...

Do you have any experience with homebirths? Midwives? Planned unassisted births?

On the subject of how selfish it is for a woman to want to deliver at home or in a birthing center... I have seen long-term complications of c-sections and episiotomies and such. Although rare, they can be painful disfiguring and even life-threatening (accreta). Having your baby delivered by...

I don't think the amusement park I worked for is any worse than any other busy one... with as many as 22k + people in a small area playing around in the heat, sometimes getting intoxicated and/or in fights... you do see quite a few patients. I think the only thing that may make this...

    Baby Food Diet

I don't see the point of doing any diet that is not a sustainable lifestyle change. Why not just get in the habit, learn and adjust to the way you should be eating the rest of your life? This isn't as asinine and unhealthy as those crazy cabbage diets or whatever, but it's still a fad diet...

My best bud has border collie pup who is about 13 weeks old. She is so smart... she started herding me and then realized if she ran in a circle around me the right way she could tie my legs up with the leash.

The amusement park I used to work for has full ALS capabilities, every drug and piece of equipment you'd find on a rig, and obviously a medical director. The medical director also granted some special protocols for us (for example - you're not going to send every syncope patient to the...

    Coloring Pens/Pencils?

Prismacolors are PRICEY though. I used to use them for art and they are fantastic but I don't think I would use them for a coloring book because of the cost.

    Coloring Pens/Pencils?

I used 30 ct Crayola Twistables for my Anatomy coloring books because there's no need to sharpen and with 30 of them, you have a variety for the pages that have lots of structures.

    Spice and Bath Salts

This stuff is messed up. Had responders find folks with bath salts... and a bathroom with feces-covered pieces of toilet paper stacked literally waist-high recently. Among many other problems.

Whatever happened to the good ol' days when people robbed others at gunpoint? Apparently now they're using blow torches and the threat of infection with AIDS.

Random question... if you get an email from a supervisor giving kudos on a call well done... should you email them back? This was also forwarded to every supervisor so it's not a one-on-one personal type thing. I feel like I should but what would I say... "thanks for recognizing my awesomeness!"?

I know!!! I've come absurdly close to chopping it all off. Can't bring myself to do it though. I'm no Demi Moore. I'd look like a freak. Yes. And I practically bounce off the walls. I pace, do the stand up/sit down game, I like to bop my head in tune with ring tones and such, I wander around...
