    COPD patients

I don't understand why the real reason to be careful with O2 and COPDers is so difficult for people to understand. It is NOT the hypoxic drive thing which has been disproved ad nauseum. The problem is acidosis people. COPDers cannot blow off CO2. The more O2 you provide, the higher the...

    advice on a new dog?

I had a cat at home, rescued from the shelter also. I took the cat's favorite toy to the dog on visit #2 and let him sniff it and play with it. I then took the toy back to the cat. He sniffed it and played with it. When I finally brought the dog home, I put him in the porch. The cat came to...

    advice on a new dog?

Of course you are correct. Idiots of every persuasion can in fact pick the wrong animal and screw it up. A person has to be smart about it. It took me 3 visits to determine that the last dog I adopted was in fact, the right dog. He is a malamute/shepherd cross and the best dog I have ever...

Asked and answered. The altered LOC is reason enough to go the ED. Establishing a baseline for symptoms of CVA is a bonus.

Most Unusual "I didn't call 911 then..." situation you've had

So my husband wasn't feeling well. He knew he had some emphysema going on and quit smoking about 3 years before. He made an appointment to see his doctor at the VA (about 1 1/2 hours away) got in his car and went. I was working and I get a phone call. The man has a pneumothorax, a lung...

    Hypotensive dialysis transfer

Altered level of consciousness = transport to nearest appropriate facility which in this case is not the nursing home. This lady needs to go to the hospital, specifically a stroke center. Try and find out from the patient (as the documentation is incomplete) whether she has deficits from a...

    Ambulance Chaser

We have pagers too. Usually the medic carries the radio, EMT the pager. The pager has a setting where all radio traffic can be monitored. This is in addition to the radios in the rig.

    Ambulance Chaser

Cannot be even 1 store apart. If one goes into a place, the other can either join them or wait in the rig. Anyone out of the rig HAS to ensure their radio is on and working.

    the 100% directionless thread

Yeah - it's a real pain having someone put a roof over your head, clothes on your back, meals on the table - credit rating to get cell phones, computers, etc. If someone did that for me, I would really be irate.<_<

    Business idea

Bad idea. The following is an excerpt on a feasibility study done in 2006 for a specific township. I was able to determine that an ambulance can cost anywhere from $60,000.00 on the low end up to $180,000.00 with about $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 being the average price paid for an ambulance...
