What IS the role of the AEMT?

That pretty much sums it up. Though I'll add in our state SOP. If you would like, PM me and I can send you a copy of my companies protocols as we run a I'85/AEMT/Paramedic system. http://dph.georgia.gov/ems-procedures-forms-applications-resource-documents Just scroll down a little and...

Biggest problem at the EMT(BLS) Level?

Having some of my wife's family living in Montana, and looking at possibly moving there one day. From my understanding, the classes are recognized state wide and the only thing stopping you at that point is the medical director.

Biggest problem at the EMT(BLS) Level?

At that point your somewhere around 100 hours shy of the AEMT, so why not tack that on and boom you have a wider scope.

CCT: Vent. Transports Gone Wrong. Air or Ground

Yea, I'd more than likely lose my license for doing something like that. In my state, even a medic can't replace a trach. It's monitor the airway(that they have left) and load and go.

    Headphones in ambulance

They would be nice in our trucks as whoever installed our sirens decided for whatever reason to face them backwards

    EMT-B jobs-- Need some help

Hmm, to my understanding we have a law that states if a medic is on the truck, it must be ALS. I do recall a service having a rather fun time with GA OEMS for putting Paramedics on a truck with no ALS equipment and calling it a BLS truck.

    EMT-B jobs-- Need some help

Out of curiosity, how does the state allow a Paramedic to work on a BLS truck? In my state, if you are a medic, you are ALS and a service can not operate a truck with a medic on board as a BLS only truck. By that I mean that all standard and state required ALS equipment must be on the truck.

    Go ahead and tease..

We have a few of those style of AED's at my second job. Along with Zoll monitors(the old ones) which I am not very fond of as we don't use them much and we have LifePak 15's at my regular job.

How are EMT-Basics treated in your region?

Until about 6 months ago(when more and more EMT students were doing 3rd rides and getting out there on the street), heads would start rolling and the sky's would darken when someone said they were a Basic. Now that the state is (unfortunately) making new EMT students take NREMT for Basic then...

Looking for EMTs to hire in oil field industry. Need Advice!

Have you thought about hiring EMT's of a higher level but not at the Paramedic level. Such as Intermediates or Advanced EMT's? If so, depending on the money it doesnt sound like a bad gig and I'd be interested.

I want my own personal AED ! ( New York )

unleashedfury The AED's for public use.. The ones at the mall, schools and all other public places give you specific instructions on what to do. The ones we have on our trucks are for healthcare providers and required approval from a physician. Not the one's on our trucks. When you open it...

What are you're "go to" primary and secondary airway methods?

I'd go with a King followed by an LMA. If need be I'd use a CombiTube but I prefer a King. Note: My state does not allow EMT-I's or AEMT's to intubate as we are considered BLS.

    Pregnancy in the field

My company has a light duty program for injured and pregnant employees. From what I've been told and seen, most of the companies in the area have a light duty program. Though it is a question you should ask when you get your numbers and an interview.

    EMS in Montana

While I have thought of moving to MT, that would be quite a change as their are virtually no volunteer ambulance services or FD's except basically in the boondocks.
