    DeKalb County GA AMR

They do not get to tech no matter if the call is BLS.

How "Basic" is BLS in your area

"See the bold part" I think some of the issue here is, that were from different states. My state uses NREMT. The entry level to work on an ambulance is I'85 which currently being phased out. We have very few EMT-B's. Most Basics work at dialysis only companies or work at services "out in the...

How "Basic" is BLS in your area

Then you wind up with a company like mine with a system that makes the Paramedic tech every single 911 call no matter the C/C even the stubbed toe at 3am, and you wind up with a bunch of EMT-I's and AEMT's with very limited tech experience and are stuck driving every call every shift until they...

What is your most ridiculous call?

While not my most ridiculous call, it was rather funny. Around 0330 the other night, a call goes out on the county fire channel(we scan) for an "Accident with injuries, possible rollover", after hearing which engine was responding I knew we weren't going to get the call(too far away), our...

What's in your personal EMT bag?

We use Statpacks, alittle on the expensive side but everything is put together in a pretty decent fashion and pretty easy to remember where things are. The company also has different kinds of jumpbag variations, such as one with an AED attachement, one that will fit an adult BVM, etc...

    Montana

I'm planning on moving to Montana to the Belgrade area (just out side of Bozeman), any ideas as to good places to work? I have looked at the FD which seems to do testing once a year(plus I'm a single role AEMT with no FD certs), I have looked at the local hospital in Bozeman which currently...

    States that recognize National Registry?

GA recognizes NREMT and requires it for initial certification, after which NREMT is not required. As for reciprocity, the rule is generally as long as your coming from a state that used NREMT for certification, you just have to pay the state and show your NREMT card and your good to go.

What defines a high volume/busy system?

Our system ran right at 128,000 calls last year. Though we have about 15 trucks up during the day and about 8 at night for our 911 area. Plus some about 5-6 BLS trucks during the day for IFT only and another 3-5 ALS IFT primary/911 backup and 2 BLS trucks and 2 ALS trucks at night on the IFT side.

    Montana Endorsements...

Looking further into the state SOP, it is noted under different complaints that the AEMT can give the 5mg/10mg morphine auto injector.

    Montana Endorsements...

My question more related to reciprocity as I am a Georgia and NREMT AEMT.

Also, I'm curious to know how it would be handled as far as medications that are allowed under the AEMT scope in the state that are however outside of my current states SOP. Such as the AEMT can give thiamine(not in my current SOP) 100mg by IV followed by D50(which is in my current SOP) for a...

    Montana Endorsements...

I saw that, I'm glad that the state seems to be moving forward. I have thought about moving to Montana as my wife has family in the state and as everyone knows it is a beautiful place to be. I'm currently looking at the state SOP from the state office website and I've noticed that their pain...

    Montana Endorsements...

Thanks, I was looking at their website and that was a bit confusing. Also, in that instance are they forcing the I'99s to upgrade to paramedic or downgrading them to AEMT?

Would you know if Montana's new level of AEMT is for their old I'99s for is it NREMTs AEMT?

    How many on your ambulance?

On a further note, every 911 call gets a fire response as well with 1 BLS engine(with a few ALS engines in the mix) if deemed BLS through EMD, and a ALS rescue(non transporting) with 1 medic and 1 EMT if it's deemed ALS, that's when we run with county fire. If we run with 1 of the city FD's in...

    How many on your ambulance?

That's a lot of people, surely that isn't for the majority of your runs. For us, BLS is 2 EMT'I'85/AEMT. ALS is 1 Paramedic and 1 I'85/AEMT with the very occasional double medic(usually a new medic doing upgrade/check off rides).

    Major Issue With New Partner

Taking into account that you said you work for a hospital based service and everything you said. It sounds like your "partner" has a very good friend or family member somewhere in the hospitals upper management(ie. CEO, CFO, etc). While I have thankfully not had partners as bad as you have...

    Scariest Moment in EMS

Oh how lucky you are. The panic button on our radios are disabled . Now it just serves as the scan on/off button. That and with my company, if you request PD, our dispatch is going to want to know why, all the while delaying getting PD enroute to us.
