    Which clinical do you wish...

I would have really liked a burn center rotation. Along with more time in the ICU/PICU. I wish we would have spent more time reviewing vents and multiple drip patients. The school I went to focused a lot on the 911 side of things, very little on the ALS IFT side.

    EMT, 2nd time around!

I've heard good things about Puckett from a buddy who worked there a few years ago. I'm a bit weary to get on with another private, but its certainly worth checking out. I'll look into metro as well. I lived a few blocks away from Lassiter HS, went there until my sophomore year when I moved up...

    EMT, 2nd time around!

Where in Cobb did you work? I've been debating revocations to that area for some time. Any recommendations on services to check out?

    Private Companies in Maryland

My dealings with TransCare have been limited to run ins with the crews at local ERs. Most of them don't wear uniforms, some will wear the shirt but they wear it untucked. Some other winners I've seen usually wear either a coors light hat, or some volly tshirt. Combined with their attitudes it...

    Private Companies in Maryland

Western shore companies include Butler, AAA, ProCare, and TransCare. Like rescue1 said, they only do IFT. I would stay away from Butler and TransCare. Shady companies with poor reputations. I've had a few friends work for them and no one lasted long. I don't know much about AAA. One of the...

    Paramedic Work in Colorado?

I applied with a couple services out there right when I got out of medic school. Denver health, Poudre Valley Hospital, and a small rural service on the NM border. I didn't hear back from the first two. After some research it looks like they both require a few years experience as a medic. I...

    Paramedic Work in Colorado?

Do you have your CO medic license? Most places won't even look at your app until you have it. Expect about 2-3 months from beginning to end.

    police department?

The first place I volunteered in Minnesota required all of their police to cross train as EMT-Bs. Since it was a fairly small town, police were almost always first on scene.

    Sprinter Type II Units

We have three different sprinter units that our 24hr crews use. One is made by road rescue, and the other two by wheeled coach. The Road Rescue has a ton of leg room up front, and it's great for long trips if you're driving or riding shotgun. The Wheeled Coach however is terrible. If you're a...

Trying to get into the field

Maryland Fire Rescue Institute holds accelerated EMT-B classes around Annapolis in the summer. The only down side is Maryland EMT is very dumbed down. They follow the MFRI curriculum instead of the NREMT. There is a way to apply for NREMT after the class, but it's not easy. You also would...

    Top 20 frivolous Calls

Top 2 off the top of my head would be... Toned out at 0030 during a snow storm for a woman experiencing toe pain. Her big toe had hurt for 3 weeks. She had stubbed it in the bathroom. Rated pain 2/10. Decided midnight in a snow storm was the best time to go. She ended up being transported in...

    EMT-B in Maryland

Charles County is another EMS only county. They utilize ALS chase units and mostly volunteer FD.

    EMT-B in Maryland

Very few. As was mentioned before there are a couple IFT companies, but no private 911. The job I worked at was a dual role security/EMS job for a large independent living community.

    EMT-B in Maryland

My private job paid me $13.50 starting with a shift differential if you wanted to pick up night shifts. I think I ended making around 14.50 after 2 years

    Additional education

Use the AHA website to find a class near you. They're usually held fairly regurally. Especially ACLS and CPR.
