    FF Parole Crews

I don't see a problem. I think rehab is one of the most important (and often ignored) parts of the system. If they're putting in good work, and maybe getting future job skills then I'm all for it. I'm not a FF so I'm not familar, can you get hired anywhere as a convict?

    EMT-B moving to Titusville, FL?

Lake and Volusia county have stand-alone EMS (Lake County EMS and EVAC respectively) although I've heard a rumor Lake EMS is getting absorbed by county fire. Like AKflightmedic said we're dominated by fire-ems. In Orlando there's American Ambulance which only does IFT. Rural Metro/AMR does IFT...

When you hate your new job...

Thanks for some perspective guys. I did have a chance to float to a floor and see what the RNs are actually doing and I was relieved. I think I'm still heading in the right direction. It's just the job is terrible lol. When I took the job it was described as they float a lot and help everywhere...

When you hate your new job...

I recently started working in a remote monitoring center of a hospital. The pay was too good to pass up, but I've quickly grown bored with the job. I miss the patient interaction and using the hands on skill. In this new job my interactions with patients are few and far between and very limited...

    ALS IFT?

Greatly depends on the call. The IFT I used to work for would do monitored transports from hospital to hospital, in which I basically just checked the monitor and vitals, and maintained any pumps/meds/O2 that was already going. The rules on what was ALS, CCT, SCT was always a little unclear but...

    Probably Shouldn't have said that....

I just always tell people I work with to go slow. I've made the mistake of thinking I could make jokes/talk a certain to a patient too quickly and had to apologize (fortunately not for anything major). Even with frequent fliers, or people he seem like I can joke, I still stay a little reserved...

    Flexiblity vs income

@akflightmedic I didn't realize that putting PMD was such a contentious issue haha. I don't say it out loud but in writing I'm lazy and I'm used to abbreviating it that for reports and on certifications.

    Flexiblity vs income

Yeah sorry PMD is Paramedic. That's the abbreviation we use, and I forget not everyone here lives right where I do (FL). @VentMonkey you're right. And like I said, either way I can make it work. I made it through Medic school by working multiple jobs and overtime. The GI Bill helped a lot...

    Flexiblity vs income

My wife recently brought up a good point that some how had completely slipped my mind. I'm trying to get into a PMD to RN Bridge program, while also trying to get hired by a 911 service. I currently work for an IFT where the pay isn't great, but the schedule is incredibly flexible. I can (within...

How important is a Linked In profile?

that pretty that pretty much matches what I've been seeing on LinkedIn. I couldn't find any of the paramedics I know in my local area. Since EMS and the medical field in general is kind of a niche market it seems like it's not as much use to us. But I've already got my profile more or less done...

How important is a Linked In profile?

I was just curious if anyone else has a LinkedIn profile, and if they thought it helped them get an EMS related job? I've got one that I keep up to date, but I don't get many hits and I find all my job postings through agency/company websites. I know LI would probably say it's important but what...

    Family or self first?

@akflightmedic You make some good points. I don't want to make it sound like this is all coming from my wife. Her concerns are just adding to mine. I deployed overseas for a year with the Guard and got back in the summer which is definitely coloring my opinion right now (been in awhile so it...

    Family or self first?

My career goal has been nurse for awhile now. I took the EMT-Medic-Nurse route to be able to support my family along the way. My wife has said it's getting harder to have me gone so much (three days of work, two or three days of school a week most semesters). If I was able to get a county job or...

    Florida Hospital EMS Central FL

I recently got a call back from Florida Hospital EMS (Or FHEMS as everyone likes to say). I've seen them around and I understand the basics of what they do (IFT to Florida Hospital locations only for the most part). I'm curious if any works for them or could shed light on what the average day in...

    Chest pain with head trauma

This was my main question. I had a feeling a made the wrong decision and it definitely seems that I did.
