Anyway, enough semantics about titles and names...
With regards to the OP's question- I haven't seen anyone bring up Narcan. Most agencies I know of are required to carry it if the have the capability to give narcs. Of course, that's going with the whole 'dosage causing sedation' theory...
How'd your GYN visit go? Did they do a pap? Haha
As for me, this was after a standby event with our local ambulance agency. I'm a volunteer with a collegiate service so we used their ambo for the pic:
This was taken last year during a class presentation
Nice! I'm about halfway through- I'm in a new dual program so I get my AAS in May and my BSN December of 2013. Not looking forward to OB this semester :/
How bout you? Any job prospects yet? New grads are lucky to get a spot around here...
Exactly- even if they do give anything its something minute like that.
Had a resident on the floor the other day that didn't wanna give a pt Tylenol for pain for whatever reason. So he ordered 1 of morphine with 4 of Zofran  Then he wimped out and didn't end up giving the guy...
I work in the ED as a tech so I hear every report given to the RN/MD. Can't say I've ever heard "I gave him 2 of morphine for the pain on the way over"...
Usually its "We've given 0.8 of Narcan with no response". Lol
I do some volunteer work at a Collegiate Squad and we had a head injury...
Okay, maybe its not because of the MD's assessment. I guess I'm not 100% sure to be honest, but I would have to guess its between this and the short transport time in the Phoenix metro area. I haven't seen prehospital narcs given more than 3 times in the 4+ yrs I've been in this field. I'll...
I used to be an ER tech that was able to start IVs. The "fast-track" pt's who came in for the sore throat and cold/flu s/sx usually didn't get on. However, our MDs were generally pro-IV, meaning if they think the pt *might*, at some point need one, then they'll order it. They would rather...
Anyone have any specific changes with the new Advance EMT scope that the NREMT is switching over to? In Arizona they've added SVN's and CPAP to ours, plus a couple of other small things I can't think of (I'd have to talk to my friend who took one of the classes).
Better one- The first call we got at ASU Student EMS was for an allergic reaction in one of the dorms. We got there about the same time as the Fire Dept. We get there and the girl is completely asymptomatic. She said she ate some Thai Peanut Noodles and, since she was allergic to peanuts...
I tried out the Littmann Electronic scope a few weeks ago from one of my nurses at work. I used to think "no one needs this except a cardiologist". Well my mind was changed instantly- I can see its use in EMS because it eliminates the background noise from creaking knuckles as well as when you...
I'm pissed. They told me there were no more positions left, back in May. I started Nursing school now but would have liked to make some money before then!!!
