"A New Jersey Transit train derailed and crashed through the station in Hoboken, New Jersey during the morning rush hour on Thursday and ABC News reported that more than 100 people were injured and multiple passengers were trapped."

Curious note: "Injured passengers sat on benches in the train station while they waited for first responders..." -- anybody ever seen/heard of this before? I suppose it's easier for everybody, to some extent.

Jersey City Medical center had most of the severe calls. APPARENTLY response times were under 10 minutes. I know that area of NJ fairly well, I know that the nearest Medical helicopter is out of Newark, then hackensack. I don't think they needed that. The jersey city medical center is very very close to the train stations, and is surrounded by Urgent care clinics(potential use- less severe patients?). I don't know much now, but i have good friends and family working as Law enforcement in Jersey city(neighboring city), as well as firefighters and medics in jersey(west NY, and North Bergen). I will try to keep updated.

Certainly looks like quite a few agencies were there -- I recognize several different vehicle markings.

I agree - definitely looks like a quick ride to JCMC from there.

I'll be curious to hear the radio records.

I would not be shocked to have coast guard boats, or NYPD boats, taking people across the river to NYC hospitals, I know they had NJ transit busses taking less injured people by the dozens to hackensack medical center.

Agreed - certainly possible!

One thing, though: what's with all the cervical collars? If we're going around collaring people at an MCI, something is...seriously out of whack.

Oh.... Yea... From what i can gather and this is super duper UNOFFICAL, it was a big "my hat vs your hat" thing- meaning fire Dpt's where going at it with each-other. But like i said before response time was supposedly good? I do not know for sure, but thats what i can gather. Luckily no First responder injuries that I have been made aware of. Also im shocked that many went to Hoboken MC, if i'm not mistaken that is a level III now. It was a level II which is wat JCMC is. Completely surprised nobody went to university in newark(10 minutes ish L&S)

Very, very interesting...I would hope that response times would be good!

Looks like JCMC is a Level II trauma center, but Hoboken MC isn't anything at all?

I've never been inside, I think its just a big Urgent care type thing to be honest. Theres really no need to have it, JCMC is there University is 10 mins L&S, Hackensack MC is 15 L&S(with helicopter services, know a few people that work here.. FANTASTIC HOSPITAL), maybe Bayonne medical center? That area is legitimately an airdrop of everything lol. Hospitals, prisons, malls, cities, anything and everything.

What's wrong with having people who are waiting for the next ambulance to arrive in a seat?

Gotta love EMS in NJ...
They pulled Medical ambulance buses from 3 other counties in NJ, plus one from Yonkers and one from NYC, as well as EMS Task Forces from 4 surrounding counties and NYC.... all responding into a county that is 62 square miles......

Let's be honest here.... you have a train crash, with 100 injuries, including numerous red tags, with many trapped in a partially collapsed terminal, what are you going to do with them? how many ambulances can you get on scene in the first 10 minutes of an incident?

BTW, they weren't waiting long for first responders.... PAPD and NJTPD were on scene very quickly (as they routinely patrol the terminal, they were probably on scene immediately), and FD resources soon after, and the ems system in Secaucus is 100% career (albeit understaffed, but the city only pays for 2 ambulances 24/7).

Do you happen to know what counties? I know Bergen county has a solid EMS system, however Essex(Newark university and that group of EMS) was also responding(probably). I would like to say surrounding cities such as WNYFD and NBFD would be properly staffed, but I am not 100% sure(family works there).

EMS Strike teams from Bergen, Union, Essex, and Hudson counties...

There are also pictures of Elizabeth's Medical Ambulance Bus, Elizabeth's Mass Care unit, Jersey Citys MAB & Newark's Mass Care Unit at the scene, and resources from the NJ EMS Task Force (at least 4 other MABs)

I know that newarks micu was there. Shockingly one of the best in the state. However I didn't see Elizabeth or any cities up the line a bit. (Kearny, Harrison ect). I also did not see any flights get called in. I know west ny fire administration personnel was there. Along with north Bergen. But outside of that I'm still hear say on a lot of the responses
