Currently going to school getting my EMT-B then hopefully paramedic after intermediate, just wondering once I finished basic and get certified will being a veteran help me get hired pretty easy. I know alot of places have veteran preference anyways, but just the fact of high stress environments with some combat medical training, would most places see that as helpful for emt even if all I've done is clinicals and ride alongs in school for my experience.
Just some info about me:
I reside in Kentucky was in army infantry for 4 years with one combat tour, have taken tons of medical classes while serving, I've been a physical therapy tech for 2 years.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Skip the intermediate you don't need it if you are going to become a paramedic. Only place where veteran preference gives you a true leg up is government jobs federal, state, local. Get a year as a paramedic and if you are missing the ARMY lifestyle look at working as a paramedic on a military base as a government employee. You will have a leg up over non-veterans applying and the pay is typically better then any private service and some local government agencies too.

Most likely, yes. It certainly will not hurt.

Unless it's rendered you mentally unfit for (understandable) reasons such as PTSD, again, it certainly will not hurt.

Normally being a veteran will help. Not everyone is going to associate a veteran with being able to handle high stress environments.

I know a handful of people currently in the military who can not handle any stressful environments.

Thank you I didn't think about working on a base, that actually is a great Idea for the future.

You're welcome. I work on one right now and it's hands down better then all the private services that I've worked at.
