Does anyone know of a traveling medic Program out there? I know AMR here in San Diego had a thing where they sent medics over to the mid-west and south a part of the oil/hurricane efforts, but from what i hear it was more a less sitting around and not responding to calls. Im wondering if anyone knew of a Program where one could go to different cities and areas around the US and be paired up with a local Paramedic to learn and work. I think it would an awesome educational opportunity for me as well as others to learn different EMS systems and protocols that way i can really be a "Nationally" registered Paramedic.... Not to mention I love travelingg

Sauidi Arabia hires American paramedics to work in the kingdom. Have to have 2 years experience though.

Shotmedic, what you're talking about that AMR does is their Disaster Response Team. Only applies I believe when the local EMS agency can't handle the situation given their resources. I've never heard of just temping somewhere you aren't accredited though, seems like the local EMS agency wouldn't want someone who doesn't work there...just working there.

Can Totally understand an EMS agency not wanting to waste money training a medic just for them to leave with in a couple months, but if there was a way to travel i want too haha, im not too familar with the traveling nursing gig but we have a bunch at our local ER right now so if they can do it why not us?? Obivously i wouldnt expect to be all on my own i could vision it more like a hands on ride-a-long with a local medic supervising. I think it would be awesome for medics to experience the variety of medicines and protocols the stretch across the United States First hand. I know when i worked with the USFS as a wildland firefighter traveling the US i learner manny ways to skin a cat....

if you dont mind mississippi i may know of something for you. PM me if you are interested in a month on month off gig.
