Does anyone on here work for or know anyone who works for Detroit EMS(FD) or St. Louis EMS(FD)

I have questions about the service, I found pay for St. Louis online but not Detroit. What are protocols like, Are the medics FF/Medic or are they single role Medic only? Whats the equipment and management like, etc.......

Thank you

If you can get a hold of HotelCo he will know more about detroit.

But this is what I know.

It is fire based. You dont have.to be a firefighter to work ems. They hire basics and medics. They have an extremely high call volume.

A guy I know said they have.45 minutes from the time they get the call to get back in service and on to the next.

Protocols aren't super liberal. But transport time is never more than 7ish minutes. No RSI in MI.

The cost of living is lower here. Then a lot of places.

Detroit has an academy you go through. Even medics start as basics and get promoted to medic as they climb the ranks.

MI is also doing away with the national registry supposedly next year.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Detroit EMS. mostly due to not having enough units to handle the volume, but there are other problems.

Just remember, there are more important things that pay.

People are always waiting forever for an ambulance. There is sooo much abuse in detroit.

There are better places to be. Thats for sure.

I know things in Detroit are bad right now, but I also know that the New Chief and Layor are trying to turn things around.

Does anyone know anything about St. Louis?

Staying where I am at, I was just curious.
