I wounder what would happen if the county EMS agency decided to buy a few fire engines and then began jumping fire calls. After all, if they can respond first and save 20 seconds...

In FL, if the county EMS holds the certificate of need for the county, they are the ones who decide who can and can't work there.

So unless the county commission splits the certificate, the FD has no choice.

It appears that the only reason they're even trying to remove Dr. Tober from the 'loop' is to thumb their noses at his ruling, which pulled their ALS licenses. I don't see where granting the Certificate of Public Need is going to be beneficial to the people of Naples.

Dr. Tober found sufficient cause to pull the ALS certifications because of falsified training records. If Naples Fire is going to take such shortcuts, one has to ask 'What other shortcuts are they taking?'
