So I've been applying to ambulance companies all throughout orange, LA, riverside, and san bernardino counties in the past 4 months. And haven't heard anything back from any of them. Should i re apply to those companies that i applied to in the beginning? could they have lost my application? or would it be wise to continue waiting.

any input would be greatly appreciated

thanks

oh yeah im new to the forum, so nice to meet you all.

Most companies will keep applications for a period of 6 months to 1 year. I would contact said agencies and ask if you should reapply or if they will be considering old applications. That would also be a good opportunity to express interest and determine if they will be hiring soon.

thanks for the input. its just so hard to just sit around and not hear anything from any companies.

From all the discussion on here, the Southern California EMT market is pretty well saturated, and finding a job can be quite difficult.

You just have to lower your standards and make yourself desirable. There are jobs out there. Or be willing to commute - but thy would suck for a $10/hr job.

There's your problem, you can't sit around and wait for them to call you and offer your job. Call them or go talk to them until they either tell you they aren't hiring or give you a job. You have to do more than just apply.

How is the market for seasoned medics? I have 15 yrs experience, but am starting to get worried with everything I'm reading.

Yes you should be worried, the market sucks right now, my buddy just applied for a fire/medic gig for an indian reservation in san bernardino, one spot mind you, they got 92 applicants, and they want a lateral. LA County area is real slow too, maybe Americare is hiring medics due to the recent santa monica contract. best of luck to you.
