Just got a job with AMR in SF. Anybody familiar with how things are run over there? Do they do predominantly IFT with some 911 sprinkled in or what? What's their policy on station transfers?

Did you not check with the recruiter or interviewer or the folks with the operation?

Down here it's one or the other pretty much.

Never worked there but had a few interns from AMR SF.

Looks like a lot of IFT with maybe 4 911 rigs a day.

Fire Department handles the majority of 911 ambulances in SF.

AMR SF is 90% <5 years on the job. In other words, it's a lot of kids getting not-so-great 911/IFT experience.

I'm biased and think SF is a great place but I also think it's where good paramedicine goes to die.

If SFFD opens i'd say apply for a EMT spot there. You can even apply just to be a firefighter right now if you wanted to.

The other 911 option in SF is King American. In my experience it looks loads better than AMR SF.
