I didn't find it funny either, I was just pointing out what everyone else saw as being funny. The of the titles as an anecdote for humor was slightly funny, however the story was most tragic. Even though you shouldn't use metal ended tent poles below powerlines that are clearly lower than the maximum height of the pole itself. I was a scout myself, and the metal rod is made so that it #1 acts like a nail, and #2 doesn't break off. It slides through a metal ring atop the tent and provides the peak, while ropes spiked into the ground provide the pitch. I always was afraid of lightning myself. Of course our camp in the Five Rivers Council used plank build cabins with canvas roofs, it was the scouts job to rig up a suitable roof.
