hey everybody! new to the forum and i see its filled with very useful information. im sweating the whole becoming an emt process. since im a total newbie im still preparing to pass the national registry and get a drivers license! and i have very little work experience much less in the healthcare field. but im willing to give it a shot! i get psyched up when im retaining emt knowledge but i get shook up when i realize there is a process to actually get the job and i start second guessing myself. so id like to know what you guys think about the prospects of landing an EMT-B job with no experience and i also would like to know what kinds of references you list because im sitting here thinking others list Fire Chiefs and Medical Directors. what say you!? can the average Joe do it!!!? this is SPartA!!!

be real, peeps. no sugarcoating. i can take it.

Welcome!

for the references part just put the very best person you can that has known you for a while or can boast at your abilities of being an EMT.

Not friends or family members. but maybe a teacher? classmate? boss? Any of those would be good.

Just work with what you got.

Look into volunteering with a service. Even before you start class you can volunteer and start getting some experience. You might even meet some folks who are willing to write you a letter of reference.
