Does anyone know if it would be possible for me to be hired as a basic emt per diem with no experience.
(my only experience were my ride times required for the class i took) I live in Dracut and work full time in everett so any company pretty much in between those cities along 93 would work for me. I just want to get some experience a few shifts a month on saturdays or sundays whenever i dont have to work my full time. Thanks in advance.

I did that at Brewster from 2011-2013 while I was a full time and out of state college student. I was upfront during the interview and they were able to work with me. I did have to work full time for two weeks to meet the new hire requirements (one week of orientation, one week third riding). At the time we were mostly a Boston based company, so everyone had to do their third rides in Boston but I bet now with all their southcoast bases that you might be able to work something out.

It might be possible at one of the more IFT-oriented services. You may as well apply to Cataldo and Trinity and see what happens, but don't expect much. You might have some luck with Lifeline or Pridestar.

Life line, Brewster, McCall, a lot of the private companies do just call them or email them before you put in an app

Thanks for the replies everyone, keep em coming please! Do you guys think all companies will require the full time for two weeks?

The only full time you will have to do is the initial application w4 forms and then that company has there own way of BB, KED etc so you'll just have to be available for that stuff

I work at Lifeline now and we need help lol we also hire per diems and if you are mass certified you get $2 more dollars or get it when you get your cert. Trinity on the other hand from what i hear is a 90% - 10% (911-IFT) which is great it gets you experience on both sides but could potentially burn you out quick too.

If you want more information contact Joe Schulte at Lifeline Ambulance he is in charge of human resources
