EMT Student I am sure you will do fine. as long as if you have done well throughout the course and know what you are talking about you should be fine. Here is a suggestion study hard up to the night before you take the test. The night before the test you and whoever else you want to take go out watch a movie or rent on. Or go out and eat. come home play with the kids (If you have any) and go to bed early if at all possible. So Then you are refreshed and ready to take the test the following day. This is also a good stress releif (Sp?). Have fun and good luck :p

Hey Brandon,

I think I am going to stress until it's over :p

I had a test last night... on 4 chapters. These were my scores: 100, 100, 96, 94.

I feel really good now!! But on to the next test!

Until this year IL only required a state license. That changed Jan 1 though. Those of us who only have a state licensed are "grandfathered" in, and can also take a state test for Intermediate and Paramedic. That being said, who knows when they will stop writing I and P tests at the state level, if that happens its NR for everyone. I kind of regret not taking the national exam for Basic. I'm thinking about switching to national for I and P... I'll wait and see how class goes though.

We are required to be NR in my state. CO went through a bunch of changes last year to try and streamline the state EMS.

Michigan requires EMTs, Specialists, and Medics to obtain their National Registry initially. We took the national registry test, and that counted for our Michigan license also. When it comes time to renew I need to renew my Michigan license, but I dont have to renew my NR

I'm now, with two months to go, trying to find a way to get all my CEUs in to maintain my NR, I realized I dont want to lose it... but I may be too late. :(

I forgot to say that I thought the NR test was like any other I have endured so far. Just remember to pick the BEST right answer and you sould do fine.

In Wisconsin we have to take both state and NR tests. They werent that bad. Once I did the state, I sort of knew what to expect from the NR.

I've got my Illinois state license and I didnt take any test. :p

What is a specialist???

PA has Medics take the NR test initally, then keep up Con-ed with the state - don't need to keep a registry card (But real silly to let it lapse) EMTs take a state test.

The National Registry Recognizes
EMT-Basic
EMT-Intermediate/Specialist
EMT-Paramedic

My textbook referred to them as Intermediate/Specialists, and around here we call them "specs". Our county doesn't recognize the EMT-I though, and only allows them to perform at the EMT-B level.
