I sign to this forum to see what was up taking this as an option in my career between life difficulties and all the other obstacle i never enrolled school because i had move away from the city i was actually selected in a lottery of a volunteer ems company that will pay for my studies. Now i came back to the city and i saw this school that offered EMT-B for free and i approached. I haven't missed one day of school and im scoring top 3 in the practice exams given in the classroom and i lead the class with most ride a longs..Since i volunteer quite often the company i go to they are really getting to know since i have be there alot. Most likely it will be much easier to find a job there. If i get hired i would like to be a medic after after being a tech if i become a medic i need some advice what should be my next step after that.
BTW i am located in NYC and my ride along are quite entertaining but ive been told that wear out after a while but what should be my next step towards my career i am 20 years old now and taking up my EMT written exam in about 1-2 month also emplyeed as a security officer:cool:

Wow that was hard to read. Is there a question in there?

I know I should not take me too far out on a limb.
But even I have problems to understand the written. :o
I feel a bit stupid at this time....

Hey. This is your second language. I'm trying to lean another one right now, and let me tell you, it is not easy for me. You should have no reason to worry!

Having trouble deciphering whatever it is you said but you could apply for FDNY EMS.

I'm no Bill Shakespeare so I won't comment on your English skills. But it sounds like you have the right idea. Networking and getting to know people is huge in any industry and will help you land a job easier than someone who is cold applying.

After medic? You might want to rethink that. It will help you get on a FD if that is what you are trying to do, but little else. It's one thing to be a medic and then say what else, but if you are thinking about that "what else" now, then that is where you should be heading. What is your goal? You're young so you can spend some extra years trying to get into a competitive major...RN, RT or whatever.

Not that you can't change paths when you're older but the gift of youth is something you don't get back.

Tell that not to Hasty. I've had at last over 15 years ago an English book in my hands. That English that is spoken and written in the U.S., is very different from that here. We learnd that from England, Ireland and Scotland 6 years at School. You"ve got a lot of different Meanings in you"re language.

@NYM

What ever you mean, you wouldn"t see me in you"re EMS.

I just finished posting in the marijuana thread... and after reading this I feel bad for being pro-use...

:D

Okay, I think the point has been made about the grammar in the OP.

OP = Original Poster or Original Post

.
Before I started EMT school, I got my CNA. .

Not trying to be mean, but English classes probably would be a great help in furthering your career.

Ohh, CNA, now aren't you special...

Yeah, when you're stuck at home recuperating from major injuries or finishing your days n a convalescent home, then, hayle-yes, CNA is special...if any good and halfway compassionate.

OP, don't try to slide by the system through ride-alongs and special programs. Get a job, but then get back to school and get the classes needed to earn those higher (Paramedic or whatever) certificates and licenses to make a real, secure living.
