Hey, my name is Jamie Mark Neville and I am new to this website. I am currently enrolled at RespongRight EMS Academy starting in August, which I am so excited for. I've always had passion to take care of others since I was a child so I know this will be the right career path for me. I just wanted some suggestions on the best known companies to work for in Missouri, and what the job outcome looks like. For instant, once I am done with the academy is it going to be extremely hard for me to find a job because of the economy? Also, I just wanted to know the most recommend author for the EMT-B study guides offered out there today? And finally, what kinda salary am I looking towards in Saint Charles, Missouri? If any one can help me, and give me suggestions I would gratefully appreciate it. Thank you for your help, Sincerely Jamie Mark Neville ^_^

Hello, and welcome to EMTLife!

Your other two threads were moved, as we ask that members only post a thread once. Posting the same thread three times makes it more difficult for our members to respond.

As a new EMT-Basic in this economy it will be challenging to find your EMS dream job. You'll have to work hared to sell yourself as an EMT-Basic. As you do your clinical rotations be sure to network and see what opportunities are out there.

As far as study guides go, see what your instructor recommends. Here are some our members have used:

http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Exam-Secrets-Study-Guide/dp/B0010YVMD4
http://www.amazon.com/SUCCESS-EMT-Basic-Success-Across-Boards/dp/0132253968/ref=pd_sim_b_5
http://www.amazon.com/EMT-Basic-Review-Manual-National-Certification/dp/0763744662/ref=pd_sim_b_3

Again, wait to see what you're given in class. My class required an EMT-Basic work book that I used as my study guide.

As a complete guess for salary, you most likely would make between $8-$12 an hour as an EMT-Basic. You'll have to put in some overtime hours to make some money.

I'm sure others will be along to answer some of your questions. Good luck!
