Good Afternoon All,

As the title I am going through some changes for the beginning of the year. I am looking at some different states. I have been a nremt- basic since 1993. I will be living alone with no children. So I am free to go where ever possible. I am looking for a reasonable size town, not a large city but not rural cities. I am a hard worker, dependable, and can work overtime. So feel free to send me messages.

Thank You

Any more specifics you are looking for? There's a ton of moderately sized cities. Are you looking for warmer or cooler weather? Mountains? Beach? How about cost of living? Crime rates? Etc.

There's a lot of moderate sized cities in CO, but the cost of living is higher then the national average, and due to the wide scope of practice for EMT's, you would need your IV and EKG certs to find a job. It's also a little more competitive for the same reason.

True. Your post is pretty vague. If you're a basic, you can go to just about any moderate sized city in the country and work for $10 an hour.

Your best bet is to move to a place where you actually want to live and has decent employment opportunities. Then investigate educational choices, plus up your skill set and then work to support the fact that you enjoy where you live.

Thank you to those that have responded. I am from a parish in Louisiana called St.Bernard Parish. I have worked in their 911 system from 1998-2005. I had lost everything in hurricane Katrina, so I relocated to Dallas. St. Bernard Parish prior to hurricane Katrina had a population of approximate 67,000. The parish is 2,158 sq. miles. The company I worked for ran 6 ambulances. We did 911 and private transfers for the hospital and nursing homes. We also did morgue runs because the local hospital did not have a morgue. I have found that part of the job interesting. To observe what crime scene and the coroner process the scene. I am a type of person that enjoys being out, coffee shops, bookstores, museums, art galleries. I enjoy a friendly town, low crime, a place that a parent would raise a child, affordable housing, and a 911 system I could get work in.My learning interest includes medicine, grief, and death. I have been researching types of careers should I have to get of the ambulance because of injury or age. I have thought of the funeral business to assist families through their time of need. I have sharpened my skills to be able to work with people that are in emotional distress. I have taken the cism classes a few times. Any other questions I will be open to answer. Have a great day,.

I also wanted to mention I am looking for a middle ground. I enjoy the water and mountains. I enjoy sun and warmth, the foliage season and snow is fine, but not snowed in.

How are you a 22 year EMT-Basic? That's like the Frylock.

I came out of high school knowing I wanted to do since the fire department was not hiring and not many people retired. I started with life pack 10, no aeds were around , the pulse oximetry was being tested by New Orleans ems, but then it was called New Orleans health department(nohd), basic could not do d-sticks, before glucometers were not around and rescue 911 came on half way through my class time.

What?

So you're old....but how are you a 22-year basic? Have you previously tried to advance?
