Hey guys I just recently applied for Mccabe ambulance in bayonne ,nj. just wanted know have any of you guys worked for them before are they a good company/good place to work. will I gain some good experience from them for someone who is looking to be a perspective paramedic and how are there pay compared to other ambulance companies. any info on the company ill greatly appreciate it thank you!

I don't personally know anyone who's worked for them, but it should be interesting to see how everything pans out with the Jersey City contract. If your goal is to become a paramedic, it might be better for you to start BLS with a service that also has ALS (MONOC, JCEMS, Capital Health, UMDNJ). It's easier to get into medic programs and find jobs that way.

Well in September I'm gonna be doing the paramedic degree program at union county college. I have been applying to these big places that have also but they take long to get a reply from I just wanna get a job that I can gain some 911 experience bcuz as I said before in another thread my 911 street ems is low but I know my basics. But I wanna get experience so come medic school I'm in decent shape or I can learn and grow.

UCC is a good program.
By the way, a fair amount of previously all-volunteer first aid squads are hiring per-diem EMTs to fill gaps in their coverage.

I applied as well, and both deputy chiefs seemed to be pretty laid back guys. They don't post on street corners, and if they take over jc, it should be interesting.

One things to remember, it is a small for profit company run by the McCabe family. Mickey has A LOT of politlcal pull in Hudson County, and if you are on his good side, you are golden, if you aren't, well, you can be screwing yourself.

Many peole have used it as a foot in the door to go elsewhere, and it seems like they don't hold it against yoiu if you leave for greener pastures.

Doesn't seem like bad place as a first time job, good luck with it.

Oh ok I'm also just worried bout pay as well cuz that's a huge hike for me. Even when I worked for life star Edison that was still quite a hike but at 12 bucks an hour bills had to be paid but if I'm benefiting from gaining experience ill take the hike just bcuz it will help me in the long run
