I was wondering how much Math was in the EMT/Paramedic curriculum? I am not very good at math, and I want to get a head start on whatever math will be needed in the program. Thanks- Andrew

Not a lot of math is really involved aside from basic addition and multiplication.

As long as you can divide by 2.2 and can add and subtract you will be mostly ok.

Divide by 2 and subtract 10%. So much easier
For the EMT level you really only need to divide by 2. Nothing that is in the general EMT scope needs a super exact weight.

Some students who think they're comfortable with multiplication and division have trouble with related topics like fractions, ratios, and percentages -- all part of the paramedic curriculum. You should have a working knowledge of the metric system, too.

Do we have to wait till medic school to confuse them with IBW?
I don’t think any medic schools in CA teach their students how to calculate IBW mainly because a lot of their instructors don’t know how to calculate it..

Taking classes up to a simple calculus course should help you get a head start.

Why not diffeq, discrete math, number theory, and linear algebra?

Seriously, nothing beyond simplistic algebra medical math.

Get good at eye balling weight...
