Who of you agrees with me that childbirth is utterly discomforting? :(

Or do you think it's so wonderful bringing a person to this life? :)



Personally I do my very best at getting to the hospital early enough. :ph34r:

It is pretty funny knowing that most ppl come into this world being ful of crap. :D

Its a real pain in the *** but when its done, its a pure joy. And yes I was full of crap when I came into this world, and I still am. LOL :lol: :D B)

Child birth- well there is no analogy that suits it. I would rather have my arm cut off and sewn back on than go through the pain of childbirth again. In fact utterly discomforting doesn't even do justice in describing the nine months of hell we go through carrying the baby.

I remeber labor...Only time in my life I considered suicide (I really did)

Here's 3 of the biggest myths of childbirth...

1. We don't glow

2. We don't want our bellies touched by everyone in the store.

3. We DO NOT forget the pain.




By now I hope you get my feeling towards being pregnant and giving birth?

That said, it is all worth it when that sweet little guy/gal is in your arms. ;) :D
 
Hmm... my teeny tiny mommy was 5-7, 105lbs before she got pregnant. I weighed 10lbs 8oz, my brother 21 months later was 9lbs 6oz (induced 2 wks early). I weighed more than 10% of my Mom's body weight at my birth! She didn't use any drugs... she said it wasn't a picnic but she would gladly do it again (and did with my little brother). Just shows pain is all relative - we have a high pain threshold in our family (I walked off a broken back in 2 weeks, now I have residual pain, but oh well).
 
childbirth is a great thing and delivering a baby in the back of a squad is a bit tense but all in all i enjoyed it

Child birth is an entirely disgusting, horrible, nasty, god awful thing. There is nothing beautiful about a wrinkled up greyish blueish pinkish alien zombie looking thing sliding out from between a womans legs.

Since I have started working nights we have done one a week here in the ER. It doesn't get better, easier, or more miracle of birthish....is nasty, and an assault on every sense, every single time.

And while everyone is walking around going "AWWW a baby..." its like, "Yep, another baby, someone get housekeeping to clean that mess up, please."
 
I was profoundly amused when my son was born.. the discomforting part was losing him. It tears a hole in the heart...

I was able to watch him being born, and although it was mildly disturbing, it was just one of those great moments in life.

Child birth is an entirely disgusting, horrible, nasty, god awful thing. There is nothing beautiful about a wrinkled up greyish blueish pinkish alien zombie looking thing sliding out from between a womans legs.

While on this topic I was just wondering what others do.
Our protocol states , if a woman goes into labor(I guess they have to say woman to be politically correct as if some guy would go into labor) . we must have the ambulance pull to the side of the road comes to complete stop and assist the mother with the delivery of the child and then proceed to the hospital.

Now that is if she is ready to deliver in other words , no delivery of the child is to be done in the back of an ambulance while vehicle is in motion.
 
EMTPrincess.. Im surprised to hear that view coming from a female. Personally I think child birth is one of the greatest things ever and see nothing disgusting about it.

Why's that? I know plenty of females that find it rather stomach turning as well. But I am also not your typical female- I am not any good at laundry, I cannot sweep a kitchen floor to save my life, my car is a wreck, I cannot "do" my own hair to save my life, and I also find breastfeeding rather :wacko: :blink:

BUT...I am kick A$$ when it comes to cooking, anything...I just hate doing the dishes afterwards.

What a distorted view of what females are like. It leaves me wondering what type of women you have met in your lifetime!

I'm also assuming by your response that you don't have any children of your own.
Birth is a messy and painful ordeal, but giving life to another person is a miracle. No matter what you think of it - you have to admit that it is.

Umm..Perhaps you have missed the posts where I talk about my 7 year old son...and the photo I have on my profile....

My son is a miracle. I love him to death. However, when they pulled him from y stomach (I had a csection) and the dr asked if I wanted to hold him, I replied with "Have you cleaned him off yet?"

I stand by my childbirth is an assault on every sense.

Im alittle late on this one but I agree with FireChic.. giving life to another human being is one of the greatest experiences ever even from a guy's perspective. Yeah itz messy and the baby is covered in fluids but itz all from you! I cant comprehend how a person can carry a child for 9 months and then they are born and the first thing you think of is "did you clean him off yet?" WTF?

You find childbirth so disturbing and wouldnt hold your own flesh & blood til he was clean... Im actually surprised you were able to get past the sex part to even have a kid... we all know how messy sex can be sometimes :)
 
You guys need to try out that Hypnobirthing fad...painless birth and greatly reduced morning sickness by meeting with a hypnotherapist specialist months in advance.
 
I rather see life enter in the back of my rig than see it leave. Yes, it can be messy; but I rather have that than any G.I. bleed or trauma patient that had their 2 beer minimum. Obviously, if you think O.B. are horrible you have not worked enough rectal, G.I., or irrectratable vomiting patients.

It's not very nice to pass judgement. My children are everything to me. Just because I'm not so thrilled about having my body taken over for 9 months and going through something similar to having my bottom lip stretched out over my head doesn't mean I don't understand the concept of creating life. It's a messy, painful experience and some of us have a sense of humor about it.
