Hi dudes
would you please help me to find out which country is better for working as an EMT?
U.S.A, Canada, Australia or Europan countries?
Im an EMT-I from iran, and I want to be an immigrant in one of these countries.what should I do?
TNX

What is the training for an EMT-I?Length or hours? Scope?
It can be difficult to have foreign training accepted I'm Canada. Your training needs to meet or exceed the license profile you are going for. Check out www.paramedic.ca go to the nocp tab. Many provinces use this or a similar document.
For the most part you cannot transfer in EMR . PCP is usually a 1600 or so hour course (average) and can be 10 months to 2 years in length depending on the delivery method and number of hours the program does.
ACP is an additional 1-2 years of education.
CCP is another 1-2 years in too of ACP.

If your training wasn't done by a recognize USA college , service or one affiliated with either you will most likely have to start from scratch if go to the USA. Some states may work with you but I doubt you would get far.
Most European countries and Australia have a bachelors degree requirement or medics.

Hope that helps.

tnx Medic Tim
Im 31 years old.I have bachelor degree at Emergency medicin from one of high ranking univesities in iran, but we havnt certificate like NREMT in our country.we are working with our college certificate after graduation.actually, im in trouble because I postponed marriage for immigration and Im working hard on my English language skills.therfore,Im seraching for a good country and a faster jump to there.

Each province handles things differently I canada. It is a lengthy and costly undertaking. It is also very difficult to get a work visa unless you have ties to canada or come in through some type of program.
Each province has a website that explains the process a bit and has contact info .
Good luck

I used to work with a woman who was originally from Iran (married a U.S. soldier) but got her EMT over there. National registry let her challenge the rest and she did fine. If you want to come to the US I would contact national registry.

Wow really?
My understanding was that the nremt was very strict and didn't outright allow outside training. Did they get a state license then get nremt that way?

No. She had a bachelors and EMT cert (she was pre med). She provided proof of completing an EMT class and logged ride alongs. I think she had to do seperate clinical time in the ER over here ( and maybe an EMT refresher. I'm not sure about the refresher though) to get tubes (they don't do supraglottic over there or something) but they let her take the test. She's in med school now.

But I will add that you will need to be more proficient in English. The national registry is in English and they won't provide clarification if you don't understand what they are asking. It's a very complicated test.

I wouldn't call it a complicated test at all.... It evaluates base minimum competency . That said I agree with the rest.

You don't think it would be complicated in a language that you weren't accustomed to? It would be very difficult.
..he can't even spell medicine. I think we can all agree It's a bit more complicated then that

I misread.
I hear all the time from people saying how hard the test is... It really isn't. That said... If English is your second language I can see it being much more difficult.

guys you really scared me.
medic17 How can I contact with that Iranian woman?

LOL! Is this for real? And you guys are going with this guy?

You can not just contact the National Registry of EMTs and think they're just gonna meet you down at customs and bring you on in. BEFORE any of that putting an Iranian citizen on an ambulance as a certified EMT on American streets in a position of public trust, you need to first be able to get through customs and immigration legally. That is you have to wait a substantial period of time to get a visa (if they will even allow a work visa for an Iranian for EMS) and THEN you can try to get an NREMT card. Also, Iran and the US are not friends; despite what the tree huggers will say. You may be a good guy or you may not be, I don't know you. I know that it isn't a good political climate for you right now, regardless of your intentions.

EMS and NREMT are not the challenge here. You coming to America on something other than the Titanic is far more of a challenge. Personally, we have enough EMS folks here; why don't you go to the UK?

calm down mate, and tanx for your tips.
I just asked a question about diffrences between Australila,Canada,U.S.A.,and Europen countries.however I dont think political issues destroyed all rules about immigration.as you know there are plenty of Iranians who working in America.
Dont worry about your position and your life there, and Dont judge only based on this political news.
take care buddy

There are a lot of Iranians working in the US, that is very true. Many Iranians are just ordinary people who want the best/happiest life they can possibly have who don't care what biases the government(s) have. I'm not judging you at all. I'm just stating that there are a lot of hurdles for you to enter the US, firstly, and then to become a certified EMS worker. My apologies for not being as clear. Good luck.

This^
Getting foreign credentials transferred in is difficult but is a cake walk compared to the immigration side of things.

I think Australia is looking for immigrants? Or was that an April fools joke.
