"Also, Iran and the US are not friends; despite what the tree huggers will say. You may be a good guy or you may not be, I don't know you. I know that it isn't a good political climate for you right now, regardless of your intentions. "

Sounds like you watch a lot of Fox News, huh?

To the OP, you will have a hard time getting a work visa if your only job skill is as an EMT or paramedic. A company in the US would have to sponsor you, and no ambulance company would do that since there is no shortage of EMTs here in the US. I do know a few Iranians who are here on work visas, but they are all computer engineers.

Hope that helps a bit.

Sounds like you're being naive on the US/Iran relation.

Good point about being sponsored by a US company though, I forgot about that. Like you said, EMT/P skills aren't desperately sought after at this time.

UK and Aussie EMS folks have 3-4 year degrees. You also typically need to be "Western" trained for any sort of reciprocity from every vacancy announcement I've ever seen.

You cannot get a work visa in the USA as a medic unless you come in on some other program that will give you a work visa. I'm an advanced care paramedic in Canada as well as a paramedic in the USA. I'm not even allowed to volunteer in the USA anymore as a medic. Emt and paramedic are grouped together and considered unskilled labour to immigration .

Kamran, have you looked into some of the Iranian or Middle Eastern services? Pay and benefits are actually superior to many American jobs and there's more room for growth.
