How great ARE your medical benefits?

Do you consider your health benefits to be a big perk of the job, regardless of your feelings about your job otherwise?

Not as good as Medicaid.

In all seriousness my benefits are pretty hard to beat. Really what makes FDNY worthwhile over a higher paying private hospital.

I don't work in EMS but yes my medical benefits are a huge part of my job compensation. I'm only 37 and rarely make use of them but the older I get the more I realize how important they are.

It's always important when comparing two jobs to look closely at the health and medical plans they offer. Far too often people just look at the actual pay. When I was younger I didn't know this and I just got lucky being where I'm at.

I have a government pension and medical benefits. It covers what our universal healthcare doesn't (Ex prescription, eye, dental) government pays 80 % I pay 20%.

I never gave a turkey about health insurance until my wife spent 9 weeks in the hospital this winter. I love my company for the fact that with $450k in bills, we paid $3k out of pocket.

I work for a county system, our health benefits are outstanding. We have two options, a 'silver' package, which is totally free for any employee and a 'gold' package, which is a better plan and costs a small amount per pay.

Vision/Dental are a reimbursement plan, but still... pretty decent.

I am actually looking for a second job to afford the health insurance we have. It costs 25% of my monthly pay. And on top of that there is a $4000 family deductible.

I was always impressed at the thought of our coverage, and I finally got myself to go and use them. I pay about $50 a month for a Kaiser HMO plan. Was sick for about a week and had a $10 copay to go see my PCP.
