It's roots, its founders, its early progress, and ongoing challenges.
In other words, dish the dirt!

Yet one of the more helpful people on this post, How about past topics, and what the original purpose of the board was, as well as what the purpose of the board turned into.

I registered the EMTLife.com domain name in 2001 to document my journey through EMT-Basic school. After only one update, it sat dormant for a number of years.

In early 2004, just prior to applying for EMS positions, I installed forum software, and made my first post on January 2, 2004. For the first few months it was mostly me talking to myself, and it took us two months to get our first 15 members.

SafetyPro, the first community leader, joined in March and became a Community Leader about two weeks later. Chimpie joined in June 2004, and ffemt8978 joined the following day. rescuecpt, the fourth Community Leader, joined at the end of the month. Jon joined EMTLife at the end of 2004.

We were lucky to get a post a day back in 2004 and 2005. This month we average about 200 posts a day.

In late 2005 we moved from our free forum software to what we use now.

The last few years have been an absolute blur. We've added amazing Community Leaders, Chat Hosts, and members.

I'm proud that we've been able to offer a stable and thriving community for EMS professionals. For the past 7+ years we've worked together to build this amazing online community, where all members may contribute and have open access to information.

At this point we are the largest online EMS community, and continue to grow at a healthy rate.

One of the greatest parts of being part of EMTLife is the constantly changing dynamics of the community. While we've been fortunate to have many members for the long haul, we also have new members each day.

Today we continue to work on creating a roadmap for EMTLife's future. Chimpie is testing a new forum platform, we're still working on creating meaningful podcasts, and exploring other ways to serve the EMS community. I look forward to seeing what we accomplish in the future!

In case anyone is wondering, I wound up over here because of a failed coup on another EMS forum that has since slid into oblivion as a den of the worst this profession has to offer.

Awww... I miss Rescuecpt, Kyliebug, and who can forget EMTPrincess who became MedicPrincess, we hung out together in mississippi after katrina... I'm getting all nostalgic... I joined in 2004, and remember those days... :D

The best part of EMTLife is when Brown joined, obviously :D

The good 'ole days. You were one of the first. 100th, to be exact. It has been nearly seven years.

EMTLife Abridged History: it was dark, then sasha came, and it was awesome.

:-P

In all seriousness i love this forum, it has helped shape me as a provider. I was a whacker when i signed up.

Yes, yes you were ;)

Too bad a "Rogues' Gallery" is a bad idea.

My short and interrupted period of activity has produced some epic ones. Even today I wonder if a couple were trying to scam us for money and we were too nerdish to get their point.

PS: at this moment (0925 PDST) eighteen "members" are online, including some oldtimers.
