Has anyone taken the GRE exam? Any pointers or hints?

Why would anyone need an advanced degree to be an EMT or paramedic?
Why wouldn't you want to be a paramedic for the rest of your life?

I have an associate's degree in electronics engineering. Which I have been working in that field for 10 years. Now I plan to get a associate's degree in Emergency Medicine. I realize he is talking about graduate school. Sometimes people change their minds I guess.

For the GRE, hit all the free sample test question web sites to see if they are within your comfort level. You may do okay with just a computer review program and study text.

I also did a Kaplan prep class.

However, I took my GRE back in a time when pencils and paper were still considered normal.

I know of several EMTs who have taken the GREs to get in graduate school :)

If you would have asked me a year ago, I would have taken the Kaplan course. Unfortunately I can't really afford $1,000, and pray that my score will be high enough with the help of a few books.

Ironically, I'm most concerned about the computer testing. I like to underline and cross things out. I'm a visual test taker, so it will be hard doing it on the computer.

Buy the Kaplan study guide book and watch and listen to the DVD. It is rather quite comical and tells the truth about the exam. That it is written by grad students and really is not graded rather "skimmed" over .. and how to not to get upset because it is a test about on how well you can take test.. (make sense?) Has nothing to do with intelligence, knowledge, etc..

Good luck, I had to retake mine (most require a new score every three yrs). I have to admit, I did quite well .. especially for one that prayed and pointed the mouse....
