Does anybody work here? Got a couple questions that I would like answered that would be best done through private message.

Passed the review and everything but am kinda iffy on one part of their hiring process.

GSA Questions

Hello, I'm the FTO for GSA.

What questions do you have?

Talking about the one in Santa Clara County, CA, right? Just wanna be sure there isn't another Golden State Ambulance in the nation, lol. I have a friend that used to work there. If you want to pm or post some questions, I'll ask him at work.

Yes, it is the one based in Santa Clara County in case anyone else was wondering.

Hi,

I was told that I would have to pay for the drug test and lift test out of pocket. Once I pass both then I can schedule a ride along. Once I pass that then I'm hired?

The hiring process seems a little too simplistic to me as I was never told about any interviews I may have to do.

Also that's quite an expense I would have to pay ($228+) and it wouldn't be worth it only to find out that I'm not hired.

Hello again, yes these expenses unfortunately must be covered by the applicant.
And there is for the most part no interview. Your ride along days will show us if you are a trainable.

Almost everybody passes this part, you have to mess up really bad or be a complete jerk to not pass the ride along.

Afterwards, you will enter into four days of paid training.

While I can't guarantee you the job, I can say this.
Chances of you being hired are very high.

Are there any other questions you have.

What are the shifts broken into? Are the majority 24's with a few 12's, 10's, and 8's? How many people are currently employed there as emt-b's? Is there an ALS unit? What is the starting pay? How many hours is the training total?

I'm wondering if the 4 days of training will cancel out the cost of the tests.

How does scheduling for shifts work? Are there more than one ride along "test"?

Was none of this covered (or asked) in the interview?

Why not call the office on Monday and ask an FTO or the HR folks all of your questions then?

drop by their office sometime and it would explain a lot...
