Hey guys,
Alright, so I have a question.
As some of you may remember, I am in college right now. I'm majoring in biology, with an emphasis on pre-health, so I'll . After that, I'm going to try to get on with Boston EMS, then go to medic school down the road, which I will have prepared for with my education (so don't yell at me for not taking EMS seriously! ).
Here is my question. I am thinking of taking an EMT-B class while in college, and joining the EMT "club." If I pass (which I should), I will be working as an EMT for the college. Please note: it's a volunteer position as far as I know.
Is this a good idea? I know that some on here are a bit opposed to EMT-Bs, and that some are opposed to volunteers. I want your opinions, as most of you have a very good understanding of the field.
Please note, I will only be volunteering while I am at college. Once I graduate, it will be my full-time job (hopefully). During the summer, it may be my full-time job as well, unless I can only find part-time work. Also, EMT-B will NOT be my final goal. When I can (I have to work as a basic for at least 1 year for BEMS to work as a paramedic), I will go to medic school.
Thanks for your time!
Eric
