Hello :) I really want to be an EMT :D I'm currently EKG and IV therapy certified and I was wondering if that makes me a better asset or made more money and such? Is it worth it? :)

I can't speak for everywhere but in the vast majority of places further certifications unless required do not really enhance your desirability or payscale.

For the most part in EMS its either EMT, some intermediate level or paramedic.

You can probably get an ER tech job with EMT + EKG and potentially make more money.

IV is pretty much a requirement to work anywhere in Colorado in any capacity. EKG is a nice to have type course.

Might be easier to get your AEMT given that you've got experience with IVs...?

I suppose it would make it easier. Not a lot of AEMT programs out this way.

It's a 24 hour class, goes over fluid balance with some very very basic chemistry. Once you get it your medical director can then approve you to that level. With the class comes NS, LR, D5W, D50, and Naloxone. It's way to short for my liking but being an employment requirement...
