I am from Phoenix, Az originally. I received my certification of EMT-B only a year ago. With my license I worked for NYS (knock off of Pop Warner) as their field EMT. I recently moved to Canada, but am now heading back to Phoenix. This time I am actually heading to Mesa. Just asking anyone out there if they know of any EMT-B jobs. I know Phoenix Fire, Southwest, Banner Hospitals. I may work at Sunsplash as an EMT. Anywhere else or any suggestions for a noob like me ^_^

PHX fire runs rescues (unlike most of the other valley FDs) but you need to be a full fledged PHX firefighter to staff one so unless you're planning on going through the whole process of getting hired on it's not a viable option.

Try dropping an application with Southwest and with PMT. Yes, they're both owned by Rural/Metro but right now they're still essentially operating as separate companies - HR included. SW is about to create a whole bunch of part time positions (no idea why, probably to limit full timers available OT) so maybe you could get in on that at least.

If you want to stay in Mesa and are considering ER tech positions (not sure exactly where you are) you should check out Banner Desert, Banner Gateway, Banner Baywood, Arizona Regional and if you don't mind going a little farther east, check out Mountain Vista.

Additionally you could look into EMT positions at local casinos, I know a lot of people who got their start that way.

Also, there's First Responders PHX, but they only do stand-by. Still, they hire EMTs AND you'd get to watch a lot of d-backs baseball in the near future. No idea if they hire full time though.

Hope that helps.

WOW.! Thank you. All of that was definitely helpful information. I am going to be in Apache Junction for a little bit and then moving over to Country Club area. I will definitely check everything you said out. I am willing to start somewhere small and work my way up :)

THANK YOU

SW's headquarters is right off of Country Club so depending on where you were on CC, you may be within walking distance should you land a job.

Drop apps everywhere. It seems that the two main ambulance companies go through intense hiring periods and then hiring cools off for a bit so you never know. I got hired about four months after I'd put my app in.

Mountain Vista is in Apache Junction, and there's also Apache Junction Hosptial (personally, I'd recommend MV over AJH but I suppose beggars can't be choosers).

Good luck to you!
