Hello. Does anybody know if any Atlanta college offer online EMT-B class? I'm late for this year EMT college class in my area, so i'll go for CNA. but if i could train for EMT parallel to that, i would.

Not from the Atlanta area, so I can't answer your question.

However, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE AN ONLINE CLASS!!!!!!! EMT class is too short, without enough information as it is. If you truly are interested in EMS, research the different programs in your area, find the best one, and then wait until the next class starts. That way you can be physically present in the class room and do true hands-on learning, instead of just computer generated stuff.

I'm looking for those classes, that attached to some kind of EMT and provide clinical study, not just theoretical part. Becoming an EMT was one of my new years resolutions/revelations, so i'm realy exited to go ang get my foot in there somehow.

Anybody? Please, i realy-realy want to start my education towards EMT, but have yet to find any online class in a state of GA, nevermind Atlanta. If anybody can help me find at least online search engine to look for them, i'd be gratefull. Thanks.

1. Don't take online classes.
2. If you really want to start, pick up some A&P books and start studying.
3. Call local colleges that offer the EMT-B course and ask what you can do to get ready, or when the next course is, or if you can start some online A&P courses.

Try this one. I know nothing of its reputation and still advise college based A&P as co or prerequisites.

Thanks a lot, i checked it out, sounds fishy, but good enought for me. They only need 6 days of clinical, and althought i live 2 hours away, i think i can make it. But application says they need "proof of current EMT-B certification if applying for EMT-Basic or intermidiate course", don't make no sense to me. they need CPR cert. too, but i know a hospital, where i can get it quik. And one more question: does NREMT mean i can work anywhere in US or just my state?

Proof of Current EMT-B certification if applying for EMT-Basic to Intermediate Course

That has nothing to do with the EMT-B application.

NREMT- NATIONAL Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

It is a nationally recognized test with the exception of a few states. However, for each state you will have to apply for certification in that state through their State EMS office, just like you will in Georgia, and satisfy whatever requirements necessary.

:POh, thats right, my mistake. Thank you.
One more little quiest. :i've got 3 year old academic sertificate from medical college in another country, that says, i've got my high school diploma prior to that (its translated and notorized in english). Whould that do for "proof of high school" or i need to go find my actual diploma and translate it?

If you have your actual diploma from a high school in a foreign country, regardless of what language, their admissions office may be able to confirm it. You may also be able to have your academic records or transcripts as verification.

However, the best way to find out is through their admissions office.

Major colleges deal with this situation frequently. You should keep a recognized diploma for future applications.

Sounds good. If it's an only one college, where they got EMT-B online, i'll go with it. I believe tentative class dates are for the online course and clinical dont start untill june. So all i gotta do is go get my CPR plus athletic club membership and im on my way to my dream job. Wish me lots of luck!
P.S. Im half way throught Emergency care 10th edition, my brother-in-law gave it to me, is that the only book they use or im gonna have to buy more. And what about equipment, what does EMT-B student need? They don't say nothing about on a site, suspisiously...

Crimson, they say nothing, because, usually these schools like you to go to an orientation where they can scare the excrement out of you. Then, if you STILL want to attend class, and do the job, they tell you what you need.

Go to an actual class. If you are serious about this, wait, prepare, and take the class.

With all do respect, it doesn't sound like you are getting into this profession for the wrong reason. Seems like you just want to take it real quick, BS, not learn a lot, and try to impress people with what you have.

Again, I may be, and hope to be wrong, but thats just my honest .02

:)I appreciate your oppinion and would love to take an actual class. They don't have them in my area, all they got is EMT-I. So mostly its practicall reasons.
As for the "impress" part, people i know is very hard to impress. i do it fo my self esteem and actualization, so whats wrong with that?
Just human...

Have you inquired at one of these schools about the status of the EMT-B? They may have a list of programs or updated information. One of our forum members who is from the Atlanta area might be along sometime with additional information. Or, you could also call the GA state EMS office for more information.

Excuse my ignorance on this, but are there actually online EMT courses? Like, on a computer, without the whole learning to do the skills on real people, just watching videos of how its done? Seriously?

Just....wow.

"Hi I took my EMT online. How can I help?"
"Em, I'll walk on my two broken legs, thanks...."

^_^Well, as far as i understand, they do require 1 week of hands on training(don't know how many hours a day). And althought i do think it might not be enought, if they say it is, then it probably is. Online part is theoretical and i don't see a difference between class lecture and online lecture. For me, there would be less distraction and less gas money.

There are also online classes for EMT-I and Paramedic.
