I'm currently at Med School to become a Doctor and have a few questions. Once i become a Doctor can i have sierens & lights in my car in-case i'm closer to the scene that an EMT? Also could i administer medication once i got to the scene?.

Thannks,

Once you get out of med school, you'll realize that this question will already have been answered by your change in your priorities.

UMMMM sorry but lol.

Are you actually serious?

What medical school are you at?

Once you are fully licensed as a physician you can administer what ever care whenever and where ever you want to. You also get to pay the malpractice insurance for it as well as dealing with what ever laws regarding medication storage and administration that is applicable. Remember, you won't be a fully licensed physician until after you take the USMLE/COMLEX 3 after your first year of residency (internship year).

As far as lights and sirens, the short answer is no. Unless you are a medical director that actively makes scene responses (this would still be up to what ever system you work in) or you have a preexisting relationship with the patient, then you have no business showing up on an emergency scene at all. Even then, most systems will essentially put leash on any unaffiliated physician that will be yanked the second you do anything even slightly questionable. Yes, you might represent a higher level of medical training, but EMS responders in many, if not most or all, states have the legal authority at a medical emergency (legal authority based off of the laws against interfering with emergency responders) and their medical director and online medical control physicians can trump any physician on scene.

Oh come on! You aren't actually taking this guy seriously???

For all we know he could be in a foreign medical school. In the Carribean, the status of your bank account is more important than the size of your MCAT.

Can I go buy my medical degree in the Carribean or else where and come back to the USA and get my doctors license?

Some people can, but no, you cannot. ;)

Can you go buy a medical degree? Sure, but most of the schools down there (notable exceptions are Ross, St. George, American University of the Caribbean, and Sabba) are not recognized in most, if not all, states.

Which one is recognized in what state? I could go buy it come get license in one state then by reciprocity I could go where I want.;)

As we all know education is over rated.:P
