Maybe one of the bailed out automakers could help him out?

Detroit...oh, Detroit.
Corrupt leftist policies and a collapsed economy to the max.

the man is in charge of a major metropolitan city. but he can't figure out how to budget for much needed ambulances?

if he is resorting to asking for donations, than he should resign and let someone who can do the job take over.

I'm surprised any paramedics still work in Detroit. If I was working there, I would be looking to leave at the first chance I get. I'd call the EMS system a sinking ship, but that's an insult to sinking ships everywhere

Am I just a jerk to think that there's no reason a GM 4500 or a Ford E450 can't run just fine at 200,000 miles if it's had a proper preventative maintenance schedule?

Which in Detroit it probably hasn't.

Not to mention just because the engine runs doesn't make the rest of the ambo fit for patient transport.

CO leaks into the driver and patient compartments are not "ok" because the engine runs.

I could go on, but won't.

Have you heard of a man named Kwame Kilpatrick.

The old mayor that (allegedly) had that stripper murdered or something like that?

You'd think with all the rampant corruption they could find a way to make some insurance claims on their rigs.. "I don't know how this ambulance ended up at the bottom of Lake Erie, sir. Must have been stolen."

I would be impressed if they have insurance on their rigs....

Check out some news stories on the shape Detroit Fire Department is in, their stations and equipment....EMS has it good
