okay so Im on jb testprep preparing for NREMT-P and cam across a question regarding tape based res. and how its only good up to 34kg and it also gives a formula for estimating a childs weight as an alternative:
(years of age x 2 )+8

this would mean that either my son is in the 99% for height and weight or the average two year old weighs 26 lbs...

Thats kinda small for a two year old these days...imo

If I remember correctly it is based off the WHO age/weight percentiles.

It's an estimate. American 2 yos typically weight 30-35 pounds. Sometimes less, occasionally more.

I would include 2.5, 2.75, in the calculations if you had to rely on that formula for a weight estimate.

Get to know a bunch of little kids. Any time you see a little kid socially, play a weight guessing game and then ask the mom. You will get some skills pretty quickly.

"Excuse me miss, your little boy there. What is he, like 36lbs? He looks a little plump, maybe 40? Please, stop hitting me. I only hang out at the playground to stare at children and guess how much they might weigh."

Might as well ask the kid to help you find your lost puppy.

"And is that mostly dark meat? What are you feeding him? Organic produce mostly? I only eat organic, you see. Does he roam free, and peck at worms, or do you keep him caged?"

Culture differences in communing with the mom world as a mom. Lol. Sorry.

For me it's like this: "yes, she's three. Blah blah blah. Oh what a cutie. Is he 2 yet? Wow he's so verbal! Has he passed 30 pounds yet?"

Young moms wait and wait for the baby to pass 20 pounds so they can turn him around in the car seat, and then 30 so they can put him in a booster.

Not that that's a good choice, kids should rear face much longer and stay harnessed for a long time beyond that, bit it's conversation.

My little sister is 5 and is less than 40lbs.

She just went to a booster seat.

Sounds about how I was. I wrestled in the 105 lb weight class in 8th grade. at 14 years old...
