Arrive to work 30 minutes early to check out truck, set punch-in to automatically punch me in at start of shift.
Make sure truck is plugged into wall and all electronic toys are charging (cardiac monitor, IV pump, etc).
Replace various supplies that previous crew should have replaced after using but didn't.
Sit around and study.
Get call on the phone: head over to X location for Mr. Green, going to Y location. Ready on your arrival.
Go to X location, put Mr. Green on the stretcher, go to Y location, remove Mr. Green from stretcher.
Dispatch tells you to go sit around at a parking lot somewhere.
En route to post, get flagged down by a pedestrian who complains of shoulder pain since yesterday.
Take pedestrian to hospital.
Go back to base and watch Star Trek.
Just before end of shift, wash truck and make sure you didn't forget your phone charging cable.
Punch out.

Very Much Appreciated !
Questions:
What was the training like?
Did you go to a local college for training or a local fire department?
What was it like taking the state exam?
How long did it take for you to get certified and find employment ?

Training was fun.
Local college.
Took the NREMT (national). It wasn't too bad.
Took probably 3 months between finishing class and getting a job, due to paperwork nonsense, etc. Finding employment depends a lot on location. In some areas it's super easy to get a job, in others it's more difficult.

I read the protocols today, oh boy
About a new med that we’re allowed to give
And though it requires an IV
I just had to laugh
I’m getting used to gelco caths

Tones dropped, fell out of bed, through a cap upon my head
Found my way downstairs and started the truck
Looking at the echo response, I knew that I was late

Found my monitor and my bag
Made the scene without more lag
Found my way upstairs and found the code
A bystander spoke and I fell into a dream

I’d love to resuscitate you.
